The ad, which included a cell phone number said, ‘Must have!!! $10,000, a new baby girl, healthy and very cute. Can’t afford and unexpected. Looking for good home. Please call ASAP.‘ The couple has had since been released without any charges being made.

The father of the new born baby girl told police that the ad was a joke resulting from ‘kidding around with a friend’. Someone saw the ad online and called the police. When the police arrived at the Vancouver home, they found the seven-day old infant being breastfed by her 23-year old mother.

Interestingly, the parents said that they did not have a romantic relationship and were just best friends. In fact, the 26-year old father admits to having a 3-month old son with his current girlfriend.

The Canadian child protection agency, Ministry of Children and Family Services has since removed the baby from the home. The father, Jeremy Pete said that he wants to avoid his child growing up in foster care the way he did. He has since retained the services of a lawyer in a quest to get his daughter back.

In an interview with CBC News, Pete refutes claims that both he and the baby’s mother were drug users. Pete, who has a long police record, admits to their alcohol use but said he has turned his life around and is now working as a carpenter.

I hope that he really has gotten his life on track and will be a father to his children.
