Some people say that to succeed in business stick with what you know. This might have been what supermodel Heidi Klum had in mind when she created not one, but two lines for expectant mothers. The lines are called Lavish and Loved, both names which any woman will appreciate.

Lavish and Loved Maternity Lines

The two lines are expected to be in stores by February 12, 2010. According to published reports, the maternity lines will be comprised of 29 items. A news report quoted Klum as saying of her latest venture, “I experienced fashion challenges during my four pregnancies and combined my knowledge of what works in terms of style, comfort and practicality to create these lines. Being pregnant shouldn’t stop you from being fashionable and feeling great about your changing body. It’s an exciting journey.”

Undoubtedly many women can relate to having difficulty finding maternity clothes, especially for special occasions like weddings. When it comes to pregnancy, functionality has to be blended with comfort. After four pregnancies Klum obviously has an ideal viewpoint on this particular issue.

Klum’s Family

Klum is married to the singer Seal. The couple started their relationship when she was pregnant for Flavio Briatore. Briatore and Klum’s relationship broke up shortly after the supermodel announced her pregnancy. Klum gave birth to a daughter Helene Boshoven Klum on May 4, 2004.

She married Seal in May 2005. They now have three children together. They are sons Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu Samuel and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel, and daughter Lou Sulola Samuel. Seal officially adopted Helene, also called Leni in 2009, and changed her surname to Samuel.

Not surprisingly Klum has tackle racism head on because of her blended family. According to information on Wikipedia she responded to her family being referred to as ‘patchwork’ in her native home of Germany in classy, Klum style.  She was quoted as saying, “…it’s actually kind of great—we’re all different shades and we came together and we all love each other.”

Thanks to her successful modeling career Klum is certainly no stranger to fashion. Now she will be using her talents to help pregnant women stay fashionable. Her Lavish line is being designed for A Pea in the Pod, a company that also has a deal with Nicole Richie. Loved is designed for Motherhood Maternity. No doubt many women are waiting to see if Klum  will be able to deliver.

Former Victoria’s Secret model and Project Runway host, Heidi Klum gave birth to her fourth child on October 9th.  Proud musician father Seal, and Mom couldn’t help but release a touching tribute regarding the birth.

“It’s difficult to imagine loving another child as much as you love your existing children,” Seal writes. “Anyone who has a family will tell you this. Where will one find that extra love? If you love your existing children with all of your heart, how then can one possibly find more heart with which to love another?

On Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at 7:46 p.m., the answer to this question came in the form of our fourth child and second daughter,” he continues. “Lou Sulola Samuel was born, and from the moment she looked into both of our eyes, it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years.”

Quick check on Google didn’t return any hits for possible meaning or origin of  the unique moniker “Sulola” but I myself like it.  What do you think of the  name?

Lou Sulola joins older siblings Leni, 5, Henry, 4, and Johan, 2 1/2.  We hope to get a glimpse of this cutie soon!

This week expectant mom Heidi Klum told E! that she won’t be telling hubbie Seal if they are having a boy or a girl. The baby, due this fall, will the couple’s third, and Heidi’s fourth.

Heidi says that Seal doesn’t want to know, and so she’s being careful not to tell anyone just in case the news gets back to him. They have two boys together, and Seal is the adoptive father to Heidi’s daughter from her first marriage.

Heidi says that she’s hoping for a girl, and while the couple haven’t revealed when they are due, gossip columnists are estimating she’s at about four months and, oooh, excitement, she’ll soon be able to find out by ultrasound.

From a non-scientific poll of couples I know, Seal isn’t that unusual. A lot of dads were happy to be surprised, and most moms wanted to know. Perhaps moms want to plan the nursery colors and start buying pink or blue onesies, and dads figure that it’s not all that important until they are called on to instruct catching fly balls or inspect potential prom dates?  Stereotyping is alive and well over here.

Around mid-pregnancy, lots of men can’t wait to find out the gender of the baby. But at only half-way through, others see the birth of the baby as an event far out into the future and are at ease with not knowing right now. But wait until seven months and dad will probably start speculating on whether he’ll be watching football with his offspring or being begged for money to go to the mall with. Oops, stereotyping again.

I wanted to know what I was having, my husband didn’t want to know. I agreed I wouldn’t tell him. He went out of the room during the critical point of the ultrasound and the technician stage-whispered “I saw a PENIS” then we let him back in. Then I slipped in the parking lot by referring to the baby as “him” and the cat was out of the bag. Whoops.

It’s a hard secret to keep, so if your husband really doesn’t want to know, you might want to consider not finding out yourself, or you’d better be good at keeping things to yourself.

The confirmation came from the proud Daddy himself who announced it on stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The baby on the way will be the couple’s third child. They already have two sons Henry Gunter (3 and a half) and Johan Riley (2 and a half). Heidi also has a daughter Leni (almost 5) from her previous marriage to Formula 1 celebrity Flavio Briatore.

Heidi is one of Germany’s favorite celebrities. She is the host of the TV show “Germany’s Next Top Model”, “Project Runway” and is an “Angel” for the lingerie company Victoria’s Secret. Considering that she is a mom of 3 (soon 4), 36-year-old Heidi is still giving younger models a run for their money and has long overtaken the other famous German model-mom Claudia Schiffer in terms of fame and fortune.

For German women, Heidi represents the dream of combining career with motherhood, something which is not that easy in the country (ask me – I’m a naturalized German!). She is also proud of her roots as demonstrated what is written on her official website: Los Angeles, Bergisch Gladbach, New York. Bergisch Gladbach is an obscure town little known except for being Heidi Klum’s birthplace. She is also being admired for bridging the racial gap through her successful marriage to African American Seal. When asked about her “patchwork” family, Heidi reportedly said “I’m not white, I’m a shade of brown…we’re all different shades and we came together and we all love each other…it’s actually kind of nice to have a ‘patchwork family.”
