She was asked during the interview if she had plans for any more children and she responded, “Everybody keeps asking me that. But three boys? That’s a lot.”

It seems that Victoria Beckham has her hands full. At least that is the impression she gave in a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. This is a bit of a turnaround for the former Spice Girl. In the past she has openly spoken about her desire for a girl. According to the latest reports however, she has decided that three is enough.

She was quoted online as saying,  “I get up early in the morning, get the kids ready for school, take them to school. Then while they’re at school I manage to get my work in. I have to be done by 3pm so I can pick up the kids.” Victoria Beckham and her husband, soccer star David Beckham’s three boys are Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, 6, and Cruz,4.

While any parents are likely to scoff at the suggestion that Victoria Beckham has her hands full, remember dealing with one child can be sufficiently taxing. It all depends on the situation. For Beckham’s part, it’s possible her current career track could be influencing her family plans. She recently landed a guest judge stint on the popular talent search show American Idol. She also has her hands full with her Autumn/Winter dress collection.

At any rate, the decision to expand a family is not one that should be taken lightly. It’s possible also that she just wants to keep her future baby plans a secret. I certainly couldn’t fault her for that one, given the intense scrutiny celebrities generally endure.

Whatever her future plans are, I certainly wish her luck. Her hubby David Beckham seems to be having a rough time on the football field lately, so his future with the Los Angeles Galaxy does not seem as certain as it once did.

Co-host of The View Elizabeth Hasselbeck, and Patrick Wilson, one of the stars of Watchmen, are both on top of the world right now. According to reports published online, they have become the latest celebrities to welcome new additions to their families.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck Gives Birth to a Boy

Married to former professional football player Tim Hasselbeck, they already have two children together; a four-year old daughter named Grace, and a 21-month old son, Taylor Thomas. Reports indicate that she gave birth to another boy on Sunday in New York City. The baby’s weight was put at seven pounds, seven ounces. Her elated husband was quoted as saying, “Elisabeth and Isaiah are doing great and we’re excited about the addition of another baby boy into our family.”

The two were college sweethearts and were married on July 6, 2002. They welcomed their daughter in April 2005 and their first son in November 2007. Hasselbeck first came to public attention as a contestant on the reality show Survivor: The Australian Outback where she placed fourth. Initially she wanted a job behind the scenes but her agent encouraged her to audition for The View.

She has had some memorable moments on the show, most notably her arguments with former co-host Rosie O’Donnell. She took over the spot vacated by Lisa Ling in 2002. Hasselbeck suffers from celiac disease which is a disorder of the small intestine. She has written a book about living with the condition called The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide.

Patrick Wilson’s Welcomes His Second Son

For actor Patrick Wilson this is baby number two and his second son. His wife Dagmara Dominczyk gave birth on Sunday as well. A source was quoted as saying, “Mother and baby are both happy and healthy. Everybody’s great!” The baby’s name is Kassian McCarrell Wilson. Their first child, Kalin Patrick is three years old. Wilson and Dominczyk were married on June 18, 2005 and they both graduated from Carnegie Mellon University.

Patrick Wilson’s early career got a boost when he was praised for his work in the HBO mini-series Angels in America. After that he went on to appear in such films as The Alamo and The Phantom of the Opera. Most recently he played the role of Dan Dreiberg / Nite Owl II in the long awaited Watchmen.

Congratulations to both couples on the birth of their babies. There will be some adjustment to their growing families, but most likely they will adapt more quickly than first time parents tend to do. It’s always good when you have done it all before, of course that never makes the situation predictable.

You’ve got to hand it to celebrities who are keeping their birth announcements under wraps. Take Tommy Hilfiger for example. On the same day it was reported that he and his wife were expecting a baby, there came another news report that his wife had given birth to a baby boy. The initial news reports claimed that Dee Ocleppo was only three months pregnant.

A publicist for the designer had actually confirmed the news of the impending birth but declined to provide further details. No doubt many people were surprised by the second set of news reports which said the baby had arrived. The baby’s name is Sebastian Thomas and he weighed 9 lbs., 8 oz at birth on August 4, 2009. He already has a big family to love and nurture him. Tommy Hilfiger has four children from his first marriage.

Hilfiger’s marriage to his first wife Susie produced Alexandria (Ally), Richard, Elizabeth and Kathleen, whose ages range from 13 to 24. Ocleppo, who was previously married to Italian tennis star Gianni Ocleppo has two children. Hilfiger’s daughter Ally appeared on the aptly titled MTV reality show Rich Girls.

Of course the idea of blended families is certainly nothing new in Hollywood. Many well known figures have moved on to happy marriages with their children in tow.

It is not always easy to get used to stepparents let alone stepbrothers and stepsisters. The relationship between parents and their biological children is complicated enough. I think the entire family is probably already united over the birth of the new baby. Of course there is no reason to believe they were not already united.

I must commend Mr. Hilfiger and his publicist on that little bit of media sleight of hand. Pregnant celebrities should be allowed the space and worry free environment they are not usually given. In short, when the woman is pregnant, the paparazzi and the rest of the media should think about backing off for the sake of the baby.

At 58-years old Hilfiger is edging into the older celebrity daddies category. His wife reported to be around 41-years old is one of the growing list of advanced maternal age mothers. There is no challenge posed by this particular situation that can’t be overcome with love and patience. Congratulations to Hilfiger and his wife Dee Ocleppo on the birth of little Sebastian Thomas.

Celebrity parents Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker have welcomed two new additions to their family, two baby girls. According to reports online the surrogate who was carrying their twins gave birth on Tuesday morning. The two bundles of joy were born at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. Reports indicate that the happy couple was in attendance for the birth.

A representative for the couple was quoted as saying, “The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon.” Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weight at birth was 5 pounds and 11 ounces, while Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed an even 6 pounds. Both baby names are said to come from Parker’s side of the family. Reports also indicate that the babies were named immediately after they came into the world.

Broderick and Parker have a son James Wilkie who is now six years old. They had trouble conceiving again which led to their decision to use a surrogate. Sadly once the story broke it took on a life of its own and the ugly side of celebrity reared its head. Media outlets were practically falling over themselves to find out more about the woman carrying the babies. In the latest twist to this story, Barry Carpenter, Martin’s Ferry’s Police Chief, is being investigated following accusations that he tried to pry into the life of the surrogate mother. He was said to be doing this at the request of a tabloid reporter.

Now that the babies are here, it is hoped that the intense interest will die down, and for the sake of the babies they will be allowed some space. In today’s celebrity obsessed world however, that is probably too much to ask for. At one point some reports pointed to Parker being concerned for the surrogate’s safety.

Other celebrities who have used a surrogate to carry their babies include Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance, Karen Duffy, an MTV VJ and actress, Fraser star Kelsey Grammer and his wife Camille.

Congratulations to Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick of the birth of their twins. Both parents have demanding Hollywood careers so they can expect to be even busier going forward.

Actor Hank Azaria recently joined the fatherhood ranks according to reports. His girlfriend Katie Wright gave birth to a baby boy. Although the baby was born prematurely he seems to be doing well. In fact, Azaria’s spokesman was quoted as saying that the newborn was “healthy and strong.” The couple named their newborn Hal.

Azaria, who does a lot of voice over work, revealed that he put his skills to use when communicating with the unborn baby. He was quoted saying, “I get inspired to talk to him like John Lennon occasionally. He seems to like it, he gets very kicky when I talk this way.” We may not all have the voice skills of this talented guy, but many people talk to their babies before they are born. This is a practice that is recommended by some experts as a means of helping the baby get used to the parents’ voices.

Before finding love with his current girlfriend, Azaria was married to actress Helen Hunt of Mad About You fame. The marriage ended after one year. He and Katie Wright have been dating since 2007.

At 45-years old Azaria is certainly not as young as many Hollywood parents but maturity certainly counts for a lot. He is also much younger than some such as Larry King and Michael Douglas.

The busy actor can expect his life to get a little busier now that he has added to his family. There is no word on whether he has plans to add to his brood. No doubt right now he is just enjoying the moment. I certainly wish him and his girlfriend well, and hope for the continued health of the newborn.

Joining the list of celebrities having children later in life is actor Jeffrey Tambor. He joins another list as well, those welcoming twins.

Sixty-four year old Tambor has revealed that he and his wife of eight years, 41-year old Kasia are expecting the new additions to their family in October 2009. The twin boys will join siblings Gabriel Kasper who was born in December 2006 and Eva Julia who was born on December 10 2006. It would have been a pretty interesting time in the Tambor household if the twin boys were also born on December 10th. It’s even more interesting in that Tambor’s eldest child, daughter Molly gave birth to his first grandchild a few days after the birth of Gabriel. Molly’s son was born on December 14, 2004.

Tambor revealed his news on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on CBS. He said when his wife told him the news he was very excited. Ever in character, Tambor said he’s so sympathetic with his wife that “She gets gas, I get gas.”

Older fans of Tambor may remember him from an episode of Three’s Company and as a regular in its spin-off The Ropers, but his most well known roles have been on Arrested Development and The Larry Sanders Show. Most recently Tambor has also appeared in the Hellboy movies.

Congrats to one of TV’s funniest men on the impending birth. The Tambors are in for some very exciting and interesting times with four kids under six in one household.

Actress Nia Vardalos received the best gift possible just in time for Mother’s Day. According to reports, she recently spoke about the joy she experienced when her 3-year-old adopted daughter came into her life. In an interview with People.com, Vardalos story is sure to touch a lot of people whether they are adoptive parents or not. Vardalos and her husband Ian Gomez made the addition to their family late last year, but she chose the fitting occasion of Mother’s Day to share her story.

The website quotes the actress as saying, “After years of wanting to be parents, my husband and I were given 14 hours notice … then a little girl walked into our house.” She continued, “One night, the phone rang. The social worker told me we’d been matched with a 3-year-old girl.” The couple had to hurriedly prepare for the arrival of the daughter they had wanted for so long. In fact they didn’t even have much time to let their families in on the news.

After that life changing phone call, they were to get their daughter the very next day. “There wasn’t a baby shower, there wasn’t time to discuss with family and friends, there was no way to really prepare for her arrival.” In the interview she also revealed that the first time she took her daughter to church, the priest offered up a special prayer for her. She was brought to tears when he said, “Today you have given birth to your daughter.”

In the interview Vardalos talked about the difficult path to motherhood. Many people might think that as a celebrity she would have had it easy. Madonna for example seemed to get though her first adoption process relatively quickly. At any rate this is a reminder that even for celebrities, some things just have to run their normal course. Vardalos joins a host of celebrities who have gone the adoption route. These include Hugh Jackman, Sharon Stone, and Mia Farrow.

Vardalos was a little known actress until Rita Wilson, wife of Tom Hanks caught her play and they ended up turning it into the smash hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She and Gomez have been married since 1993.

In closing I will leave you with words from Vardalos herself who summed up pretty well what many first time parents probably feel. “All the grief, all the anger, all the angst at the difficult and long journey to parenthood. And that outpouring of tears was quickly followed by a peaceful gratefulness,” she said.

Some people would probably think that Suri Cruise is the luckiest girl in the world. In her short life (she turns 3 on April 18), Daddy Tom Cruise and Mommy Katie Holmes have reportedly spent a million dollars for her education. This includes private tutors to teach her Spanish and French, instructors for ballet, tap, and modern dance, gymnastics, art and music. She probably has the coolest playmates in the world – Romeo (6) and Cruz (4) Beckham, sons of David and Victoria Beckham. All for the sake of giving Suri a “well-rounded” education.

Some tabloids are a bit critical of Tom’s devotion for Suri. “You’d think she’s an only child”, apparently referring to Tom’s two adoptive kids with Nicole Kidman. I am not sure whether this accusation of favoritism is justified but indeed Isabella Jane (16) and Connor Antony (14) have remained away from the limelight, compared, for example, to the mixed brood of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt or Madonna.

During the last three years, my husband and I have been agonizing as to what to do with our twins’ education. Private international school or public school? The private schools have the advantage of English being the medium of instruction. The main disadvantage, as you can well guess, are the horrendous school fees. The public schools in the area of Switzerland where we live are free and are taught in German, with English taught as a foreign language at the 2^nd or 3^rd grade. Apparently, we are not the only parents faced with this decision. In every kiddie birthday party or playdate, the subject of conversation among moms are always about the where’s, what’s and how much’s of schools and who is going to which school. One time, my husband got sick of it and asked whether we didn’t have anything else to talk about.

The questions that we ask ourselves are:

• Can we afford private schools?
• Even if we can, should be spend the money on school fees now or save it for college?
• Would private/public schools be a good environment for our kids?

Many parents try to give to their kids what they probably didn’t have during their childhood so I guess it’s the same for Tom and Katie. I am pretty sure though that they don’t have to worry about school fees now or college money later and I envy them for that.

On the other hand, I don’t believe that my kids will have a disadvantaged childhood compared to Suri Cruise. We may not be able to afford private lessons and tutors but we love our kids just as Tom and Katie love their Suri. And that’s the most important thing, isn’t it – love.

I am happy to say, though, that we don’t need tutors to teach our boys foreign languages. They’ve been brought up bilingually (English and German) and are expected to learn French and maybe some Italian in the Swiss public schools. And this is something that Suri doesn’t have!

I can only wonder what the title of this sitcom would be. Charlie Sheen, already a dad to three daughters, now has twin boys to add to that number. According to reports, his wife Brooke Mueller gave birth on Saturday night to the couple’s first children.

A statement from his publicist Stan Rosenfield revealed that the boys were born a few weeks early, but that they were just fine. The new bundles of joy were named Bob and Max. Rosenfield was quoted as saying, “He’s a family man, now he has three daughters and two sons. He’s a wonderful father.”

The couple made the announcement last October that they were expecting twins. They got married last May. Sheen’s first child is 24-year-old Cassandra with ex-girlfriend Paula Profitt. His daughters Sam and Lola with ex-wife Denise Richards are now 4 and 3 respectively.

Of late there seems to be a continual stream of multiples, especially twins being born to celebrities. The impressive list of celebs who are parents to twins includes Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony, Marcia Cross and Tom Mahoney, Nancy Grace and David Linch and Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder.

In general, there are more twins being born nowadays. The factors contributing to this include older maternal age and improved reproductive techniques. Having more than one at one time can be a challenge, but it can also be double the fun.

Congrats to the newest additions to the twins fraternity. Hope you all noticed that their names are of the good, old-fashioned variety.

It would seem that there is a celebrity baby born every hour, well not technically, but there have been quite a few since 2009. The newest addition to the growing list is first time parents, Maxine Bahns and her husband Patrick Watson. According to published reports she gave birth on Sunday in California. The baby’s weight was 6 pounds 2 ounces.

The new parents named the baby Madison Rose Watson, which is a welcome change from all the strange names we have gotten used to. A rep for the couple was quoted as saying, “Madison is doing great and the happy parents are excited to bring her into their home.” Bahns co-stars in the hit TV show The Mentalist with Simon Baker, playing his wife.

She has also appeared in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and CSI: NY. With three movies lined up for release this year she is clearly a busy actress. She already has a plan to get her pre-baby body back. Bahns, who is also an athlete and model plans to take part in a half-triathlon in July.

Thirty-nine year old actress Anne Heche and her boyfriend James Tupper welcomed their first child together in early March. The newborn has been given the moniker, Atlas Heche Tupper. The name which was borrowed from Greek mythology is a little more like what we are used to from celebrities names. The baby boy weighed a healthy 6 pounds, 12 ounces at birth.  Heche already has a seven year old son, Homer with ex-husband Coley Laffoon.

According to recent reports, two more celebs have joyous news to share. It will be interesting to see at the end of the year how many little celebrities were born in 2009. The two most recent additions to the 2009 list of expectant parents are designer Tommy Hilfiger and Paz Vega. Hilfiger is looking forward to the birth of his fifth child, and actress Paz Vega is now pregnant with her second child.

The news comes for Hilfiger two months after he married Dee Ocleppo. Hilfiger and Ocleppo got married in December of 2008. Hilfiger’s first four children were produced by his first marriage to Susie Hilfiger. Ocleppo was previously married to tennis player, Gianni Ocleppo, a union which produced two children.
Hilfiger is a fashion powerhouse, with product lines including Hilfiger Denim, Red Label, Tommy Hilfiger, and fragrances which include True Star and Tommy Girl. He has attracted criticism for working conditions in his factories. In 2000, his was among a group of companies that settled a class action lawsuit filed by workers in Saipan.

As the second of nine children, Hilfiger no doubt sees the positives of a large family. Hopefully the pregnancy will go well and we can look forward to some good news later in the year.

Spanish born actress Paz Vega has already attracted a number of fans in the English speaking world. In fact, although the credits for the movie Spanglish listed her as ‘Introducing Paz Vega’, it was actually her 13th film.

Vega has been married to Venezuelan Orson Salazar since 2002. Their first child, Orson, was born in 2007. Vega was quoted as saying, “I’m doing really well. The upsets from the first months have passed and now, to enjoy! A pregnancy is a marvelous moment that I would love to repeat and repeat.”

Before going into acting, Vega majored in journalism in college. Her birth name is actually Paz Campos Trigo, but she adopted the ‘Vega’ from her grandmother. So far reports have not indicated when her second child is due, but she did suggest that she would like to get back to work as quickly as possible after the delivery. Online stories quote her as saying, “I am going to try to recuperate as quickly as possible and start work.” Of course, once she looks into those adoring eyes she might not be in a hurry to start working for a while.

Best of luck to Paz Vega and her husband, not only with her pregnancy, but also with her career.

UK actor Simon Pegg, who became known to American audiences for his role in Shaun of the Dead, is going to be a first time father. According to reports, his wife Maureen McCann is now five months pregnant. The couple married in July 2005. An elated Pegg was quoted as saying, “My wife is five months pregnant. We haven’t announced it yet as we want to keep it hush-hush. I’m hoping for a baby girl, but I really don’t mind what we have. We’re thinking of having it in America as the baby will then have dual citizenship. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be amazing.”

Pegg’s wife will deliver her baby in June. In the meantime he will just have to enjoy being godfather to Apple, daughter of actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

Fans of Pegg as well as the Star Trek franchise are looking forward to him taking on the iconic role of Scotty in the new Star Trek movie directed by J.J. Abrams. His other upcoming movies include The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, and The World’s End.

Model and actress Angie Everhart has already attracted a lot of attention for her pregnancy because she has been mum on who the father is. Everhart was once engaged to actor Joe Pesci, but after their breakup she started a relationship with Chad Stansbury.

Sadly she claimed that Stansbury assaulted her, but according to the tabloids she went back to him and ended up becoming pregnant with his child. Stansbury himself is said to be telling everyone that he is the father of the baby.

It’s tough to say how Everhart might feel about him spilling the beans since she wanted to star in her own reality show about her life as a single mother. Online reports also state that Stansbury has a 17 year old son, but that he has been an absentee father. To be fair to the actor, we don’t know his side of that story, but we can certainly hope that he will be an involved parent if he is in fact the father of Everhart’s baby.

Reports indicate that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are set to add to their family as well. They had their first child, Harlow in January 2008.

Good luck to these expectant parents. We know they are anxiously awaiting the arrivals of the new additions to their families as many of their fans are.

As always, there is always Hollywood baby news to be shared. A number of celebrities expanded their families last year, and this year looks to be no different. With all the news of celebrities expecting babies so far this year we have a lot of news to look forward to for the rest of 2009.

First up, 44 year Hank Azaria is set to become a father for the first time. His girlfriend Katie Wright is pregnant with a baby boy. His representative Stan Rosenfield was quoted as saying on People.com, “They’re quite ecstatic.” According to reports the couple is now shopping for a new home for their expanding family.

Azaria voices a number of characters in the long running animated series, The Simpsons. He has also done a number of big screen films including 1998’s Godzilla, and the Ben Stiller movie Along Came Polly in 2004. He was previously married to actress Helen Hunt.

Duane Martin and Tischa Campbell-Martin are now expecting their second child. The couple’s first child Xen is eight years old. The news was recently confirmed by her friend and frequent co-star Tichina Arnold. “She just found out and is so excited,” Arnold is quoted as saying. “She hopes to have a girl this time, and has said she would love to name her Derek. She has been wanting a girl for almost six years.”

I’m not sure if she was joking about the name Derek, but this is certainly good news for the couple. They have been married since August 1996. Campbell-Martin who has been in front of the cameras since she was eight, is probably best remembered for her role in the sitcom Martin, co-starring Martin Lawrence.

And in a move that may bring new focus to single motherhood, model and actress Angie Everhart would like to use her pregnancy as the basis for a reality show. According to reports she is now 14 weeks pregnant but has so far declined to reveal the identity of the father.

Everhart was previously engaged to actor Joe Pesci, but they broke up in April 2008. She was quoted as saying on the issue, “The dad is very nice and he’s very excited about it, but we are not a couple. It’s nobody you know.” It’s quite likely that if the show does get off the ground people may tune in just to see if she does indeed reveal his identity.

As yet there have been no takers on her proposed show, but she is still shopping it around. “I decided to do a show about me being a single, strong, healthy and good-spirited woman who is having a baby on her own. I want to show the positive aspects of women who do it on their own,” she said. If this can bring more attention to the issue of single parenting it might not be a bad idea.

It is hoped that these pregnancies will go well for these expectant parents. The first timers will experience soon enough the joy that only a baby can bring.

According to recent reports, Elizabeth Hasselbeck of The View is now expecting her third child with husband Tim Hasselbeck. She made the announcement on her show and said she was a bit shocked at her new pregnancy.

Apparently she had spent a lot of time covering the recent Presidential race and thought she was just worn out from all the work. She was quoted as saying “I’m pregnant again! I’m due in August… We were thoroughly happy with the surprise of it. I didn’t even know for two months. I was walking around – I thought I had – I kept saying, ‘Electionitis, electionitis.” She added, “I was tired, I was nauseous, I thought I was worn out from the whole procedure. No. I was knocked up and didn’t realize it.”

The couple’s first child, Grace Elizabeth was born on April 6, 2005 and weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces. Their son, Taylor Thomas was born on November 9, 2007 and weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces. Hasselbeck and her husband were college sweethearts. She became a co-host of The View in November 2003. The show got big ratings thanks to some heated discussions she had with former co-host Rosie O’Donnell.

A personal quote from Hasselbeck found on imdb.com states “Pregnancy and motherhood are the most beautiful and significantly life- altering events that I have ever experienced.” I think that is a beautiful quote and probably sums it up for many women. Congratulations to the couple on this pregnancy, and we certainly wish them all the best.

Another expectant celeb is Chad Lowe. His girlfriend of two years, Kim Painter is expecting their first child. The baby, Lowe’s first is due this summer. He is the brother of actor Rob Lowe; Chad Lowe is probably best know as the ex-husband of  Oscar winning, actress Hilary Swank. They finalized their divorce in 2007.

A spokesperson for the couple was quoted as saying “The couple is overjoyed and could not be happier.” Lowe has been a fixture on TV for years appearing in shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Without a Trace and 24. In 1989 he won an Emmy for playing the character, Jesse McKenna, an AIDS victim in the show Life Goes On.

Congratulations to Chad Lowe on what will no doubt be his biggest role. We look forward to the good news of the bay’s arrival in the summer.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise is full of surprises. According to recent reports online, he said that he would love to have seven more kids with wife Katie Holmes. It’s not clear if he has shared this information with his wife as yet. The 46-year old said in an interview “I want ten children. I love kids. I feel really fortunate to have the teenagers and a two and a half-year-old. It’s a great dynamic.”

Tom and his ex-wife Nicole Kidman have two adopted children, Isabella, 16, and Connor, 13. Suri, his biological daughter with current wife Katie Holmes was born on April 18, 2006. In the interview he said of his youngest, “She’s so charming, she’s so beautiful, she’s just great.” If Tom has his way, Suri will be having lots of company.

Tom also recently revealed that a big part of what drives him as a father is the strained relationship he had with his own father. His parents divorced in 1974 when Tom was 11, and he admits that he never saw his father much after that. This is an all too common story, but often the affected children grow up determined to break the cycle.

If Tom’s own words are any indication he has remained true to his convictions. “I’m a great parent. I want to be with my kids, and they get to do all the stuff that I wanted to do when I was growing up. My own father wasn’t there much for me and I want to be a different dad to my kids. My family is the most important thing in my life.”

Tom and his ex-wife Nicole have also done their best to ensure that they continued to have a strong bond with Connor and Isabella. “Nic and I are very committed and successful in sharing the parenting,” he said. I know he has received a lot of negative press lately, but I certainly admire his stance.

It’s clear that, like so many of us, parenting has helped Tom Cruise grow as a person. With all the ups and downs, and everything that parenthood can throw at you, it can really help you to find out who you are. Best of luck to Tom with his baby plans, and if he hasn’t let Katie in on them yet, well now would be a good time.

If there is one thing you can count on in Hollywood, it’s that you can never tell when you’re getting the real story. Have all the celebrity magazines reached their cap when it comes to shelling out the big bucks for baby photos? Or has the slow economy put a temporary halt to making deals with celebrities for baby pics?

Well I guess that depends on who you believe, and of course if you’re a fan or not. Reports online suggest that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have so far been unable to get any magazines interested in buying pictures of oddly monikered, Bronx Mowgli. A source, yes ’sources’ seem to be everywhere, has revealed that “Pete and Ashlee have approached every single celebrity magazine with offers to sell their first photos, but nobody wants them.” Then the source added for good measure “Covers of them tend not to sell well.”

However the Fall Out Boy member has denied all of this on his Website. He wrote “Truth is, like every celeb couple, we were offered mounds and mounds of money by mags from here to Guam to pimp out the baby. We just don’t want to go down that road with him.” It must have occurred to him that some people might take that as a slight to Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. He added “We are not placing judgment on those that do as they often use the money in a very charitable way. However, we have made the decision not to sell Bronx’s baby pictures right now.”

To sell or not to sell, I guess that’s a question many new celeb parents struggle with. The intense curiosity of fans and the actions of paparazzi could put the baby at risk as they scramble to get that first shot. That’s probably part of the reason why some celebs decide to sell the photos to certain magazines. If in fact the couple has decided it’s not in their best interests right now, I can certainly respect that.

New mom Ashlee Simpson meanwhile could be heard recently gushing about motherhood and her new baby on her blog. “Motherhood is the most fantastic experience I have ever been thru,” the proud new mom wrote. “Bronx makes me laugh and smile everyday!” Well said.

Ricky Martin introduced his twins to the world in the most recent issue of People magazine. Speaking from his home in Puerto Rico, Martin discussed wanting to be a dad, how he takes care of his children and why he decided to go with a surrogate. The twin boys, Matteo and Valentino, now 4-month old, certainly seem to have brought a lot of joy to new dad Martin. He was quoted as saying, “I’m so happy! Everything they do, from smiling to crying, feels like a blessing. Being a father feels amazing. This has been the most spiritual moment in my life.”

Martin is committed to being a hands on dad. “I don’t have a nanny. I’m doing this on my own because I don’t want to miss a moment. I have a personal assistant who helps me, someone who takes care of me while I’m taking care of them, but I’m the one who changes the diapers, the one that feeds them, the one that bathes them, the one that puts them to sleep.” He went on to add, “For any parent, the first couple of months tend to get a little bit intense.” I think most parents, no matter how many children they’ve had, would agree with that.

Martin also addressed the question that has probably been on the minds of many people. When asked why he chose surrogacy he responded, “Adoption was one option, but it’s complicated and can take a long time. Surrogacy was an intriguing and faster option. I thought, ‘I’m going to jump into this with no fear.” He joins singer Clay Aiken as another celebrity who has chose to go this route. Aiken’s son, Parker Foster was born in August 2008.

Martin enjoys reading to his sons, and playing music for them. According to his interview published in People Magazine, Martin’s desire is to give his sons “…information and raise them with honesty and love, and give them self-esteem and a lot of acceptance” he said. Martin said that the twins have already begun to show very different personalities. “Valentino,” he says, “loves to sleep. I call him ‘Mr. Peace and Love’ because he’s so chill and serene.” Matteo meanwhile “…is more alert and active. He was up at 3 a.m. the other night and just hanging.”

Ricky Martin certainly seems to have adjusted well to being a dad. There’s no word yet on whether he will be looking the start his own group of Latin crooners, but we certainly wish him all the best.

Comedian, Adam Sandler is a dad for the second time according to reports. His wife, Jackie recently gave birth to another girl, Sunny Madeline. As the name would indicate, Sandler is elated with the new addition to his family. A statement released on the actor’s website says, “Jackie and Adam had a beautiful baby girl, Sunny Madeline, on November 2. Everyone is happy and healthy.”

The couple’s first daughter, Sadie is two years old so no doubt they can expect to have their hands pretty full. She was born in May 2006. Sandler and Jackie married in June 2003.

A former Saturday Night Live alum, Sandler has gone on to carve himself a successful niche on the big screen. His hits include 50 First Dates, Mr. Deeds, and Anger Management, in which he co-starred with Hollywood heavy, Jack Nicholson.

I think it’s safe to say that as a dad Sandler is nothing like his Big Daddy character. In that movie he played an idle law school grad who takes in a kid who had been adopted by his roommate, in an effort to impress his ex-girlfriend. Luckily they were playing that one strictly for laughs.

The actor joins Amy Poehler as a former Saturday Night Live cast member to have a new addition to their family. Sandler’s recent hits include I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and You Don’t Mess With The Zohan. He can next be seen on screen in Funny People due for release in 2009.

If you?ve seen the ABC show, Pushing Daisies, you?re no doubt familiar with actress Anna Friel. She plays the love interest to the show?s main character, Ned, played by Lee Pace. Friel and her boyfriend, British actor, David Thewlis have a daughter, Gracie, and they would love to increase the size of their family. ?I really want to be a mother again?, she is quoted as saying.

According to reports, UK born Friel wants her next child to be born and raised in America. The family is so comfortable in Los Angeles where the show is filmed, she wants to make it home. ?You know, I’d always thought we’d go back (to Britain), but David and I had that conversation the other day asking, ‘What happens if Daisies doesn’t continue – would we then go back?? she said.

It seems like a lot of foreign born actors either set up roots or spend a lot of time in the good old USA. I remember reading an article once that suggested that Jude Law?s desire to stay in the US put a strain on his marriage to Sadie Frost, who wanted to stay in Britain.

The late Heath Ledger, who was born in Australia, spent a great deal of time in the US, with a home in LA, and fathering a daughter with American actress, Michelle Williams. A number of other Aussie imports also seemed to find the USA a great place to raise a family. Simon Baker, who garnered attention for his work in The Guardian, saw his career take off after relocating with his family to Los Angeles.

Nicole Kidman was also very much at home in the US during her marriage to Tom Cruise. It?s not certain where she will end up now that she has remarried and has a new baby, Sunday Rose to complete her family. Given her Hollywood career however, it?s reasonable to assume that she will continue to spend much time in the US.

On the other side of the coin, Eric Bana who has worked with some of the top names in Hollywood, still resides in Melbourne, Australia. Other notable foreign born actors who spend much of their time in LA include Kate Beahan (The Wicker Man) who was born in Australia, and Daniel Goddard (Beastmaster), another Aussie, who resides in LA.

Forty-four year old actor and stand-up comic, David Spade has taken on a new role ? that of father. Spade and Playboy playmate, Jillian Grace?s little girl was born on August 26 in Missouri.

Although no longer in a relationship with the 22-year old Grace, Spade says he will accept full responsibility for his child after DNA tests confirm paternity. Apparently the two were in a brief relationship before Grace announced that she was expecting the former Saturday Night Live star?s baby.

It has been reported online that Spade plans to go and see his daughter as soon as there is a break in the filming of his new movie, Rules of Engagement.

Other celebrity births took place during the month of August as well. Chief among the Hollywood crowd who welcomed babies during the month were Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana who had a baby girl; Diane Farr and her husband, Seung Chung had twin girls; Ricky Martin welcomed twin boys; Gwen Stefani and husband, Gavin welcomed another boy into the family.

I am curious as to the number of celebrities who will become parents by the end of 2008.
