Actress and stand-up comic Wanda Sykes is now a proud mom to twins. Although the story just hit the web, the babies, a boy and a girl were born last month. According to published reports, her wife Alex gave birth to the babies on April 27. The girl was named Olivia Lou and the boy’s name is Lucas Claude.

A rep for the couple was quoted by Us magazine as saying, “All are happy and healthy and at home.” The girl weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., while Lucas Claude’s weight at birth was 7 lbs., 9 oz.

Sykes and her partner met in 2006, and they married in 2008. Sykes officially came out at a gay marriage rally held in Las Vegas on November 15, 2008. At that time she also revealed that she had been married since October of that year. She had been previously married to David Hall but the union ended in 1998 after seven years.

Currently Sykes stars alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus in The New Adventures of Old Christine. She has however been toiling in the industry for quite a while. She got her start on HBO’s The Chris Rock Show and for a time had her own show on Fox called Wanda at Large, which she wrote, starred in and produced.

Sykes has also appeared in supporting roles on the big screen in films such as Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Monster-in-Law and Evan Almighty. She has also racked up quite a string of credits on TV in shows such as The Drew Carey Show, Will & Grace and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Sykes is of course not the first celeb in a same sex relationship raising children. Former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell and her partner Kelli Carpenter have three adopted children Parker Jaren, Chelsea Belle and Blake Christopher. Carpenter gave birth to their fourth child Vivienne Rose in 2002. Singer Melissa Etheridge and her ex-partner Julie Cypher share two children Bailey Jean and Beckett. Her current partner Tammy Lynn Michaels gave birth to twins Miller Steven, a boy, and Johnnie Rose, a girl, in October 2006.

Congratulations to Wanda Sykes and her partner Alex on the first additions to their family. I wouldn’t be surprised if this new adventure supplies the witty comic with more material for her act.

For many couples, after having the first child, they dream of giving them siblings. According to recent reports two Hollywood moms may be thinking of making more additions to their families. Reports state that Naomi Watts would love to give her two boys a sister. Who can argue with that? It will be good for them to have a little sister to protect, if that is in fact one of her reasons. She revealed that she would love to be a mother to a little girl.

Watts recently became a second time mom after giving birth to Samuel with boyfriend Liev Schreiber. She was quoted as saying, “I love babies. I look at this little baby and, even after quite an intense birth – they say you have amnesia, as women – I would go a third. It would be nice to have a girl.”

It seems it may take some doing on her part to convince Schreiber, however. “You should see our house,” she said, “It’s pretty chaotic right now and I keep making fun of Liev because he keeps walking around going, ‘No more babies, no more babies’, like Rain Man or something.”

Well I certainly wish her luck with that one. Maybe he will come around to Gabriel Aubry’s way of thinking. Halle Berry’s beau has reportedly made it clear that he would love to have another baby. He has seven brothers and sisters, so it is easy to see why he would love the idea of giving little Nahla a sibling.

Aubry was quoted online expressing his desire for more children, “I think it’s important. I’ve never known anybody who’s had a single child… I believe in big families.” Berry herself wasn’t quoted on the issue, but according to Aubry she is “okay with it.” So will we be hearing more baby news from the Berry/Aubry camp relatively soon? I’m sure the media won’t hesitate to fill us in on that one.

Of course the two situations are slightly different. Watts and Schreiber have two children while Berry and Aubry have one. They are all in similar fields and so face pretty much the same challenges as far as career demands are concerned. It’s a delicate balancing act maintaining both family and career, but as we have seen time and time again it can be done. Even in our own lives many of us have successfully juggled the demands of both.

Good luck to both couples with their future baby plans. As usual the media may start to speculate long before either couple is ready to share their good news. So stay tuned for any announcements in the future. As a celebrity baby watcher, I know I will.

Former model turned fashion mogul, Kimora Lee Simmons is rumored to be pregnant. Her boyfriend is Academy-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou. The two has been dating in February 2007, after the breakup of her marriage to hip-hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons. So far Kimora Lee has declined to confirm or deny the stories floating around. But as we have come to realize, this doesn’t mean it isn’t so.

As far as her relationship with Hounsou is concerned, Kimore Lee has said they are “kind of” engaged. However, the statuesque beauty has explained ‘exactly’ what that means. She has her own reality show, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane, which chronicles her jet set lifestyle. It frequently features her two daughters with ex-husband, Simmons. They are Ming Lee, eight, and Aoki Lee, six.

Reports online also suggest that an unnamed source offered the tip to a news website that Kimora is pregnant. Apparently the whole buzz started when the couple was photographed going into an obstetrician’s office in New York. A rep for the reality TV star was reluctant to offer any word on the impending baby news, giving the standard “No comment at this time” statement. If she is in fact pregnant, it is understandable that she would want to keep it under wraps at this early stage. After all, most of us try to wait a couple of months before spilling the beans to all but the most important persons in our lives.

While we may not know for sure if she is in fact pregnant, it is a distinct possibility since the majority of times these rumors turn out to be true. The truth will no doubt be revealed soon enough. This would be the first child for Hounsou, who was born in Benin and managed to carve himself a successful modeling career before going into acting.

Lisa Bonet is still recognizable to many fans as Denise Huxtable in the long running sitcom The Cosby Show. Well the former Cosby kid is now a third time mom after giving birth to a son on December 15, 2008. The father is Jason Momoa who is probably best known for his work in the Sci Fi series, Stargate Atlantis.

The couple already has a daughter named Lola Iolani, who was born in July, 2007. Bonet also has a daughter from a previous relationship with rocker Lenny Kravitz named Zoe. Her newest arrival was named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha. This makes him the latest celebrity baby with an unusual moniker after Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz named their newborn Bronx Mowgli.

In a quote taken from Jason Momoa’s website message board, Bonet wrote, “He was born on the stormiest (sic), rainy night.” According to reports, the baby’s name was inspired by the weather conditions. She went on to write, “Nakoa (warrior)… Mana (strength/spirit) Kaua (rain) po (dark)… The name was always going to be Nakoa-Wolf.

The name reflects Momoa’s roots, at least making this moniker of cultural significance. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1979. He started out as a model and was crowned “Hawaii’s Model of the Year” in 1999. He got his start on the long running series Baywatch.

Bonet appeared in 103 episodes of The Cosby Show before she left. She has since worked in the TV series A Different World, and the big screen movies Angel Heart and Enemy of the State. She currently plays Detective Maya Daniels in the series Life on Mars.

If there is one thing you can count on in Hollywood, it’s that you can never tell when you’re getting the real story. Have all the celebrity magazines reached their cap when it comes to shelling out the big bucks for baby photos? Or has the slow economy put a temporary halt to making deals with celebrities for baby pics?

Well I guess that depends on who you believe, and of course if you’re a fan or not. Reports online suggest that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have so far been unable to get any magazines interested in buying pictures of oddly monikered, Bronx Mowgli. A source, yes ’sources’ seem to be everywhere, has revealed that “Pete and Ashlee have approached every single celebrity magazine with offers to sell their first photos, but nobody wants them.” Then the source added for good measure “Covers of them tend not to sell well.”

However the Fall Out Boy member has denied all of this on his Website. He wrote “Truth is, like every celeb couple, we were offered mounds and mounds of money by mags from here to Guam to pimp out the baby. We just don’t want to go down that road with him.” It must have occurred to him that some people might take that as a slight to Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. He added “We are not placing judgment on those that do as they often use the money in a very charitable way. However, we have made the decision not to sell Bronx’s baby pictures right now.”

To sell or not to sell, I guess that’s a question many new celeb parents struggle with. The intense curiosity of fans and the actions of paparazzi could put the baby at risk as they scramble to get that first shot. That’s probably part of the reason why some celebs decide to sell the photos to certain magazines. If in fact the couple has decided it’s not in their best interests right now, I can certainly respect that.

New mom Ashlee Simpson meanwhile could be heard recently gushing about motherhood and her new baby on her blog. “Motherhood is the most fantastic experience I have ever been thru,” the proud new mom wrote. “Bronx makes me laugh and smile everyday!” Well said.

Sorry Buffy and Angel fans, this is not some good news about a reunion for the hit WB show. David Boreanaz and his wife, Jaime Bergman would like to expand their family. The star of Angel, which ran from 1999 to 2004, became a dad for the first time with the birth of his son, Jaden Rayne in May of 2002.

According to reports, he and his wife would love to give him a brother or sister. He is quoted as saying, ‘We’d love to be blessed with more children. We’ll see what happens, but hopefully.’

Well that’s certainly understandable. For some couples who experience parenthood for the first time, they can’t wait to start trying for number two. No doubt celeb watchers and the paparazzi will be keeping a close eye on things for the first sign of a baby bump. I wonder if it would have been better to keep their efforts a secret for now. At any rate, I do wish them luck with their plans.

Other celebs who have expressed a desire to have a child or to expand their family include supermodel Naomi Campbell, and actresses Angelina Jolie and Anna Friel.

It’s not always easy getting pregnant after having the first child. It is of course different for different couples, but with guidance from your physician or OBGYN and patience, it is highly likely that a successful pregnancy will result. According to the latest reports, Charlie Sheen?s wife Brooks is expecting twin boys. It was his mother-in-law who first revealed that Brooke was having twins, then Sheen himself broke the news that the babies were boys.

Sheen was quoted as saying, ?I’m truly blessed. I’m already the proud father of three beautiful daughters, and I’m delighted that they’ll now have two little brothers.? He added, ?Life doesn’t get any better than this.? It?s hard to argue with that. Good luck to Charlie Sheen and his expanding family.

Also expecting is Alyson Hannigan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. Hannigan and her husband Alexis Denisof are expected to welcome their newest family member in spring. She is currently a cast member on How I Met Your Mother, in which her husband has guest starred. They met on the set of Buffy, and married in October, 2003.

Meanwhile the Hollywood pregnancy rumor mill keeps on churning. Former Friends actress, Jennifer Aniston is denying rumors that she is pregnant. Apparently the gossip went into overdrive after reports that she was back with her ex, John Mayer. Her publicist responded to the rumors by saying, ?Give me a break. She is Not pregnant.?

Another target of pregnancy rumors is model Naomi Campbell. Since the news broke that she had surgery in Brazil which cured her infertility, speculation has been rampant that she is now expecting. In interviews following the surgery, she revealed her desire to have children. Her lawyers however, have released a statement labeling the pregnancy reports ?absolutely false and fabricated.?

Well good luck to those expectant couples, and as far as the rumors are concerned, I guess time will tell. There?s not much point in speculating about something that will become evident sooner or later. I guess when it comes to celebrities there will always be some level of interest in reports like these.
