Annika Sörenstam may be retired from the sport of golf, but she has now moved on to another great role, that of being a mom. She gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday, September 1, at 3:30 AM. The baby’s name is Ava Madelyn and she weighed 6lbs. 10 oz.

A statement she posted on her official website read, “Mike and I are happy to announce that I gave birth to our little girl at 3:30AM this morning. Ava Madelyn McGee is six pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches long. We are all doing well and we truly appreciate the support we have received. We are VERY excited about our new addition and will keep everyone posted in the coming weeks. Thanks!”

‘Mike’ is her husband and business manager Mike McGee. They made the announcement that they were expecting on March 19 of this year and revealed to the media in June that they were expecting a girl.

Sörenstam is one of the most recognizable names in the sport of golf. She has over 72 LPGA tour wins and has taken the Player of the Year award 8 times. In fact many have referred to her as the Tiger Woods of women’s golf. Sörenstam was inducted into the Golf World Hall of Fame in 2003.

On May 13, 2008, Sörenstam announced her retirement from the sport that made her famous. She said she would quit competition at the end of the 2008 season.

She has parlayed her success on the green into her own little empire. Her ANNIKA brand oversees a number of ventures including a clothing line, a signature fragrance and a wine label. Perhaps the jewel in her crown is The ANNIKA Academy at Ginn Reunion Resort which opened in April 2007. Her wanna-be golfers can learn to perfect their swing and golf game.

She is also involved in designing golf courses. Perhaps fittingly, the first one she worked on was the Annika Course, located at Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzen, China. She is also working on projects in the USA. Her business ventures are said to take in the things that she cares about most, namely golf, fitness and charitable involvement.

Congratulations to this great representative of the sport of golf on the birth of her first child. I wish her continued success as a mother and as an entrepreneur. I’m sure she and her husband will enjoy being parents to a little princess.

The wait is over for actor David Boreanaz as his wife Jamie Bergman has given birth to their second child. A healthy baby girl was born on Monday. Her name is Bardot Vita Boreanaz. Their first child, seven-year old son Jaden Rayne now has a little sister that he can help take care of and protect. Little Bardot Vita entered the world at a healthy 7 lbs. 14 oz.

Lat month in an interview with People.com, Boreanaz spoke about his concerns about being away from his pregnant wife. He was quoted as saying, “I must maintain a 20-mile radius. I cannot travel beyond that. If I do, I’ll freak out – I have to be there when the baby comes.” His wife Jamie Bergman in speaking to People recently said, “We’ve been trying to have another baby for a couple of years now so we are beyond excited. We’re over the moon.”
Boreanaz decision to maintain close proximity had to do with more than just a devoted dad being there for the birth. It was revealed in the news that Bergman had been placed on bed rest in the weeks leading to the birth.

Bed rest during pregnancy is not uncommon. It is usually recommended by doctors to ease the effects of pregnancy complications. In some cases the woman’s doctor may recommend it early on because of her medical history. It is important that pregnant women placed on bed rest not be worried as this will place undue stress on her and the baby.

Reasons for Bedrest

•    Premature labor
•    Carrying multiples
•    High blood pressure
•    Gestational diabetes
•    History of premature or stillbirth

Thankfully, the outcome was a happy one for Bergman, and no complications were reported during delivery. Boreanaz can be expected to report to the set of his hit TV series Bones a little worse for wear, but I am certain he wouldn’t have it any other way.

So will his Bones co-star Emily Deschanel start to feel a tugging at her maternal heart strings and want to have her own bundle of joy soon? I guess we will know soon enough, as many celebrities are not shy about revealing their family plans.

Actress Nicole Sullivan is now a happy mom to two boys. Thirty-nine year old Sullivan gave birth to her second son on Monday, August 31 in Los Angeles. The newest member of the Packham family weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces.

Sullivan and her husband, actor Jason Packham named the latest addition to their family Beckett Edward Packham. Their first child is two-year old Dashel Pierce. During her pregnancy she was quoted by People magazine as saying, “Dash is thrilled to have a partner in crime…”  Sullivan and Packham has been married since 2006.

Sullivan is no doubt remembered for her stints on Mad TV and the sitcom The King of Queens. Most recently she has been seen in the Lifetime series Rita Rocks. She plays a working mom who started a garage band with her neighbor. In a case of art imitating life, her pregnancy was written into the show. Interestingly, during her stint on The King of Queens, her co-star Leah Remini became pregnant and the crew had to come up with creative ways to hide that fact.

The new season of Rita Rocks will premiere in October. My guess is that writers will probably draw on some of her life experience to add more essence to her character. The idea of the working mom trying to hold things together never gets old.

Coincidentally, her Rita Rocks co-star Tisha Campbell-Martin is expecting her second child later this year. Aside from saying that she is certain that this baby will be her last, 40 year old Campbell-Martin also said, “Every moment, every nauseous moment, everything that is good and not so good about being pregnant, I’m enjoying.”

Sullivan certainly seemed to have taken advantage of her pregnancy to indulge a bit. She was quoted as saying during her pregnancy, “…and I am enjoying all the eating that comes along with being pregnant.” She had a baby shower on Saturday August 8 that was sponsored by Happy Heinys, the makers of reusable diapers. Sullivan also got gifts from Orbit Baby and Skip Hop among others.

Congratulations to Nicole Sullivan and Jason Packham on the birth of their second child. Hopefully her stressed out mom from her TV show won’t be in any way similar to her real life. Good luck to her with her future projects.

Bounty hunter and reality show star Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman is a grandfather once again. With his dangerous job and tough-as-nails persona, it may be difficult to think of him as Grandpa, but this is actually his fourteenth. Instead of a rocking chair or some other stereotypical image, just think black suits, big SUVs and mace.

Actually Dog is just one example of the changing image of grandparenting. Many older people are quite active, and continue to work in their respective fields. Chapman first found fame after the capture of fugitive Andrew Luster. He had actually been in the bounty hunter business for years before that. His arrest by authorities in Mexico for not turning Luster over to them turned out to be a boon for his career. It led to the TV show Dog the Bounty Hunter on the A&E Network, and the expansion of his bail bonds business.

Chapman’s daughter Lyssa gave birth to a baby girl she named Madalynn Grace Galanti. The baby was born on Friday August 7, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The baby weighed six pounds, 15 ounces at birth. Lyssa Chapman-Galanti has a seven-year old daughter, Abbie Mae. She is also stepmother to her husband’s four-year old daughter. In fact, she is a licensed bounty hunter as well and works with her father.

The hit series was temporarily derailed after Champan was caught on tape using racial slurs. A&E stopped production in November 2007. He apologized and received support from the show’s fans as well minority leaders.

Here’s to “Dog” and all the other rocking Grandpas out there. I imagine that this baby will have a lot of love right from the get go. Congratulations to mom Lyssa Chapman-Galanti on the birth of her daughter. Dog frequently talks about his love for his family on his show. This new granddaughter will be yet another chance for him to show that love.

You’ve got to hand it to celebrities who are keeping their birth announcements under wraps. Take Tommy Hilfiger for example. On the same day it was reported that he and his wife were expecting a baby, there came another news report that his wife had given birth to a baby boy. The initial news reports claimed that Dee Ocleppo was only three months pregnant.

A publicist for the designer had actually confirmed the news of the impending birth but declined to provide further details. No doubt many people were surprised by the second set of news reports which said the baby had arrived. The baby’s name is Sebastian Thomas and he weighed 9 lbs., 8 oz at birth on August 4, 2009. He already has a big family to love and nurture him. Tommy Hilfiger has four children from his first marriage.

Hilfiger’s marriage to his first wife Susie produced Alexandria (Ally), Richard, Elizabeth and Kathleen, whose ages range from 13 to 24. Ocleppo, who was previously married to Italian tennis star Gianni Ocleppo has two children. Hilfiger’s daughter Ally appeared on the aptly titled MTV reality show Rich Girls.

Of course the idea of blended families is certainly nothing new in Hollywood. Many well known figures have moved on to happy marriages with their children in tow.

It is not always easy to get used to stepparents let alone stepbrothers and stepsisters. The relationship between parents and their biological children is complicated enough. I think the entire family is probably already united over the birth of the new baby. Of course there is no reason to believe they were not already united.

I must commend Mr. Hilfiger and his publicist on that little bit of media sleight of hand. Pregnant celebrities should be allowed the space and worry free environment they are not usually given. In short, when the woman is pregnant, the paparazzi and the rest of the media should think about backing off for the sake of the baby.

At 58-years old Hilfiger is edging into the older celebrity daddies category. His wife reported to be around 41-years old is one of the growing list of advanced maternal age mothers. There is no challenge posed by this particular situation that can’t be overcome with love and patience. Congratulations to Hilfiger and his wife Dee Ocleppo on the birth of little Sebastian Thomas.

Oscar winning actress Mira Sorvino is on top of the world. According to recently published reports she has just given birth to a baby boy. The newborn is her third child with husband Christopher Backus. Their other children are 4-year-old Mattea Angel and 3-year-old Johnny Christopher King.

Mira developed the condition called placenta previa. This condition occurs when the placenta is attached to the uterine wall sometimes covering the cervix. It generally occurs during the second or third trimester of pregnancy. Less than 1% of pregnancies are affected by this condition.

Thankfully, after being placed on nine-weeks bed rest Sorvino was able to welcome her baby into the world. As a mom she had a rough time being away from her husband and children. She was quoted as saying, “I developed a blood clot due to all the inactivity and had to be anti-coagulated for months to prevent a pulmonary embolism. I spent another two-and-a-half weeks at the hospital, during which time, missing the children and my husband and knowing what the separation was doing to the kids became almost unbearable.”

Life After Pregnancy

Like most moms who go through difficult pregnancies, all problems were forgotten once she met her second son. Sorvino said, “As soon as they placed him in my arms I knew it had all been worth it.”

Sorvino and Backus met when Backus waited on her at a restaurant in West Hollywood in 2003 and have been married since June, 2004. It is certainly good news to hear that Sorvino came through this difficult pregnancy and is now able to enjoy her new baby. Congratulations to her and her husband on the newest addition to her family.

Actor Jason Priestley must be feeling pretty good right now. In the latest bit of good news, his wife Naomi Lowde-Priestley gave birth to a baby boy last Thursday. This is the second child for the couple. They also have a two year old daughter, Ava. So far not many details have been offered about the newest Priestley. The only thing we know is that the baby was born in Los Angeles. Priestley and Naomi have been married since May, 2005. After the birth of Ava, the actor was quoted as saying, “I love being a father. It’s totally ineffable. I love changing diapers. I love the whole thing — I’m all in.” No doubt having to do this times two should bring even more joy to the pair.

Priestley won a legion of fans playing all around good guy Brandon Walsh on the hit series, Beverly Hills 90210. The show had quite a run from 1990 to 2000. Maybe only diehard fans know that Priestley was actually born in Canada – Vancouver British Columbia to be exact. During an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in July 2007, he revealed that he had become an American citizen weeks before.

He had been previously married to makeup artist Ashlee Petersen in 1999, but that union fell apart in 2000. His current wife is also a makeup artist. He has a twin sister named Justine Priestley who also acts. In fact he tried hard to get her to attend auditions for Beverly Hills 90210 so she could play his sister on the show.

Over the last few months celeb babies seem to be arriving almost every week. Congratulations to Jason Priestly and his wife Naomi on the birth of their second child. I wish him the best with his growing family.

Actress Cobie Smulders of the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother on CBS has given birth to a baby girl according to news stories online. Smulders and her fiancé Taran Killam welcomed the first addition to their family on May 16. Somehow the couple managed to keep the news under the radar until the story recently broke in People magazine.

The baby’s name is Shaelyn Cado Killam.

Smulders and Killam became engaged in January 2009. They had shared their happy news with the world in November of last year. She revealed her baby news only a month after co-star Alyson Hannigan announced that she too was expecting a baby. Hannigan’s daughter was born in March.

Smulders has been quoted in interviews about bonding with her co-star about their pregnancies. “You really can’t help it, because you have babies on the brain, and you can’t help but talk about it a lot,” she said. “From creams, doctors, birth methods, dilation … You talk about everything.”

Hannigan also appreciated having something of a kindred spirit in Smulders. She said, “It’s nice because we can just talk about babies all day long, and not be like, ‘Okay, this person has to be sick of this,’ because you know that she’s just as excited as I am.”

Creative ways writers hid Cobie’s pregnancy

Executive producer and co-creator of the sitcom, Craig Thomas was quoted as saying, “After the shock wore off, we found a way to write around it or have fun with it.” Tricks they used to hide the pregnancies included loose clothing, big handbags strategically placed, and standing behind set pieces.

Fans of the show may remember a particular episode in which Hannigan’s character Lily won an eating contest. She used her pregnant tummy to show how full she was. Still, despite their best efforts the expectant moms did have to miss a few episodes. Thankfully both women now have happy and healthy bundles of joy.

Congratulations to Cobie Smulders and her fiancé Taran Killam on the birth of their daughter. If anything, she will have real life experience to draw on should the show’s producers ever decide to make her character a mom.

Former Wilson Philips singer Carnie Wilson is now a second time mom. The 41-year old gave birth to a baby girl on Friday June 19. Mickey Shapiro, Wilson’s manager was quoted as saying to People magazine that she was “happy as a lark.”

Wilson has been married to musician Rob Bonfiglio since June 2000. The new arrival, Luciana Bella joins big sister, 4-year old Lola Sofia is four years old. The new baby weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches long at birth. Wilson gave birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Wilson has been open about her struggle with weight. She is quoted on a movie website as saying, “Was I a perfect gastric-bypass patient? Yes. Was I the perfect gastric-bypass pregnant woman? No. I made a decision to enjoy my pregnancy….So sue me! But I’ve learned a lesson: Next time I’ve got to watch the carbs.” Clearly she also had issues with weight gain during pregnancy.

Wilson is the latest in a string of celebrity moms who are having children in their 40’s. Other moms in the so-called, ‘advanced material‘ group are Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Madonna and Marcia Cross to name a few. While some over-40 celebs have used expensive reproductive techniques to become pregnant, this is not always the case.

Congratulations to Carnie Wilson and her husband Rob Bonfiglio on the birth of their second daughter. Hopefully Wilson will be able to finally win in her battle with obesity, not only for herself but also for the sake of her growing family.

Actress Kelly Rutherford, one of the stars of the hit TV show Gossip Girl has just given birth to a daughter. The birth is particularly significant because she is currently going through a rather bitter custody battle with her ex-husband and the father of her children Daniel Giersch.

The baby was born at a hospital in Los Angeles on Monday, June 8. Their first child Hermes who was born on 18 October 2006, has been at the center of a very public fight between the former couple since their divorce. Seemingly making things worse is the recent revelation by Giersch that he was not informed of his daughter’s birth.

He released a statement saying, “Media reports claiming that I neglected to attend my daughter’s birth are total lies and fabrication. I was never informed by Kelly about the birth of our daughter, nor was I invited to attend. In fact, I found out about it through Internet reports like everyone else.”

Another disappointing development is what has turned out to be a somewhat distasteful fight played out for the entire world to see. A publicist for Rutherford, Jill Fritzo had this to say on the issue, “The doctors advised that no one be in the birthing room; (Daniel) was notified when (Helena) was born and was immediately invited to come see her.”

According to Giersch, the former couple had a verbal agreement that he would be kept appraised of everything leading up to the birth, which he says never happened. No further statement has been released by Rutherford regarding the issue.

This story is somewhat reminiscent of the battle between Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards after they began divorce proceedings. In some ways this story seems like it might top the Sheen/Richards story.

At any rate even though they are no longer together they still have two children to raise, two-year old Hermes and their newborn Helena. Hopefully this will be at the forefront of their minds as they move forward. I certainly wish them both the best and hope that differences will eventually be put aside for the sake of the children.

Celebrities are certainly keeping news outlets busy talking about impending arrivals and new births. One of the latest actresses to welcome a new baby is actress Holly Marie Combs. According to online reports she recently gave birth to her third son on May 26.

The reports indicate that doctors had warned that there could be complications so the information was kept pretty close to the chest. Now that she has her happy bouncing baby boy she has revealed all to the media. The new baby, whose name is Kelley James Donoho was delivered by emergency Caesarean section.

Combs was quoted as saying, “We didn’t feel comfortable making any announcements until everyone was home healthy. We are and now it is time to celebrate. I, now a mother of three boys, will be going to take a nap!” It is highly unusual for a celebrity to be able to keep her pregnancy out of the press for the entire duration, but somehow Combs was able to pull it off. She could certainly give some celebrities a pointer or two.

The actress already has two boys with her husband David Donoho. They are Finley Arthur, who is five years old, and Riley Edward who is two. In a little while Combs might be wishing she really had the powers of her TV character in Charmed to deal with three boys. Any parent of boys, especially more than one at that age knows the energy required to keep up.

She is probably best remembered for her role in the hit show, Charmed, which ran from 1998 to 2006. She played Piper Halliwell the middle sister of a group of witches. The original cast also included Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty. Her breakout role however was in the series Picket Fences which ran from 1992 to 1996. This role garnered her a lot of attention and she won the Young Artist Award for her work in 1993.
When she was born, Combs’ mother was 15 and her father was 17. Her parents got married but broke up after just two years. Combs herself was married to Brian Smith but that union ended in 1997. She married David Donoho in 2004.

Actress and stand-up comic Wanda Sykes is now a proud mom to twins. Although the story just hit the web, the babies, a boy and a girl were born last month. According to published reports, her wife Alex gave birth to the babies on April 27. The girl was named Olivia Lou and the boy’s name is Lucas Claude.

A rep for the couple was quoted by Us magazine as saying, “All are happy and healthy and at home.” The girl weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., while Lucas Claude’s weight at birth was 7 lbs., 9 oz.

Sykes and her partner met in 2006, and they married in 2008. Sykes officially came out at a gay marriage rally held in Las Vegas on November 15, 2008. At that time she also revealed that she had been married since October of that year. She had been previously married to David Hall but the union ended in 1998 after seven years.

Currently Sykes stars alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus in The New Adventures of Old Christine. She has however been toiling in the industry for quite a while. She got her start on HBO’s The Chris Rock Show and for a time had her own show on Fox called Wanda at Large, which she wrote, starred in and produced.

Sykes has also appeared in supporting roles on the big screen in films such as Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Monster-in-Law and Evan Almighty. She has also racked up quite a string of credits on TV in shows such as The Drew Carey Show, Will & Grace and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Sykes is of course not the first celeb in a same sex relationship raising children. Former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell and her partner Kelli Carpenter have three adopted children Parker Jaren, Chelsea Belle and Blake Christopher. Carpenter gave birth to their fourth child Vivienne Rose in 2002. Singer Melissa Etheridge and her ex-partner Julie Cypher share two children Bailey Jean and Beckett. Her current partner Tammy Lynn Michaels gave birth to twins Miller Steven, a boy, and Johnnie Rose, a girl, in October 2006.

Congratulations to Wanda Sykes and her partner Alex on the first additions to their family. I wouldn’t be surprised if this new adventure supplies the witty comic with more material for her act.

What is better than welcoming your bundle of joy and looking into those eyes and falling completely in love? Doing it on your birthday. That is what happened for actress Alyson Hannigan, who according to recent reports, gave birth to a baby girl on March 24.

Hannigan and her husband named their first-born child Satyana. Their spokesperson was quoted as saying on People.com, “They’re very excited, and mom and baby are doing great.”

According to reports Hannigan didn’t reveal the sex of her baby. I can certainly understand that. There seems to be so much revealed about the babies of celebrities before they are even born. It’s nice to see them keeping something close to the chest once in a while. The name Satyana is unusual, but I don’t think it warrants a place in the pantheon of weird celebrity baby names.

Hannigan revealed in February during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres talk show that being pregnant made her brain a bit sluggish. She was quoted as saying, “I get tired a lot and I have pregnancy brain, which I never realized was a thing but it is. I sort of feel like a Koala bear where I’m slightly stoned all the time and I’ll say the wrong word.” Don’t worry Alyson, it’s not like anyone is going to pounce on you for saying the wrong thing just because you’re a celebrity.

Hannigan is probably best known for her role in the American Pie franchise. She was also a member of the cast of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This is where she and her husband Alexis Denisof met. She currently stars in the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

I guess we can expect Hannigan to take a well deserved break. She needs some time to get over that pregnancy brain. A quick search brought up this definition of the term: a condition affecting pregnant women, usually during the first and third trimesters. It is also called placenta brain, or baby brain drain. Just one more thing we have to deal with while pregnant right? At any rate some medical experts still feel that the condition doesn’t really exist.

Here’s hoping that hubby Denisof won’t take the cheap way out when it comes time for birthday gifts for mommy and say something like, “but honey I’ve already given you the greatest gift of all.” I’m just kidding of course. But I would like to give him a word of warning; forgetting one woman’s birthday is bad enough. Forgetting two is asking for big trouble.

Hot on the heels of reports of Charlie Sheen’s wife giving birth to twin boys, another pair of twin boys was born to celebrity parents. Former adult film star Jenna Jameson is now a first time mom. They were born on Monday evening at Newport Beach Hospital, according to published reports.

Jameson, whose birth name is Jennifer Marie Massoli, made the announcement last September that she was expecting twins. Her boyfriend is UFC tough guy Tito Ortiz, also known as the Huntington Beach Bad Boy. He is used to pounding opponents into submission, but I can bet his heart just melted when he saw his babies for the first time.

Jameson was born in Las Vegas, and according to her bio on a movie website, she studied ballet when she was a student. The twice-married new mom was once quoted as saying, “I know that when I do get pregnant, I won’t step one foot in the adult industry again.” Ortiz, who was also previously married, has one son, Jacob Ortiz Jr.

According to news reports, Carson Daly formerly of MTV fame is now a first time parent as well. His girlfriend Siri Pinter gave birth to a boy on Sunday. They named the baby Jackson James Daly. The new addition to Daly’s household weighed 7pounds 8 ounces at birth.  Daly, who was once engaged to actress Tara Reid, now has his own late night talk show Last Call.

Congrats to both set of parents of the birth of their children. And the countdown continues for the next announcement of celebrity births and pregnancies.

It would seem that there is a celebrity baby born every hour, well not technically, but there have been quite a few since 2009. The newest addition to the growing list is first time parents, Maxine Bahns and her husband Patrick Watson. According to published reports she gave birth on Sunday in California. The baby’s weight was 6 pounds 2 ounces.

The new parents named the baby Madison Rose Watson, which is a welcome change from all the strange names we have gotten used to. A rep for the couple was quoted as saying, “Madison is doing great and the happy parents are excited to bring her into their home.” Bahns co-stars in the hit TV show The Mentalist with Simon Baker, playing his wife.

She has also appeared in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and CSI: NY. With three movies lined up for release this year she is clearly a busy actress. She already has a plan to get her pre-baby body back. Bahns, who is also an athlete and model plans to take part in a half-triathlon in July.

Thirty-nine year old actress Anne Heche and her boyfriend James Tupper welcomed their first child together in early March. The newborn has been given the moniker, Atlas Heche Tupper. The name which was borrowed from Greek mythology is a little more like what we are used to from celebrities names. The baby boy weighed a healthy 6 pounds, 12 ounces at birth.  Heche already has a seven year old son, Homer with ex-husband Coley Laffoon.

I’m sure that by now, everyone is familiar with the story of what happened to Dennis Quaid’s twins. But for anyone who might have missed it: the newborns were accidentally given a potentially fatal dose of a blood thinner called Heparin.

The twins are now ok, but according to reports, during a recent taping of Oprah’s talk show, he revisited the hospital where the incident took place. The goal was to see if the hospital had put in place any measures to prevent a similar occurrence in the future. I applaud Dennis Quaid for using this near tragedy to try to bring about change and to protect and inform others.

Hopefully this will be a wake up call to other hospitals to refine their own operations for the safety of all their patients.

In happier news, Gossip Girl star Matthew Settle is now a father. His wife, Israeli-born Naama Nativ gave birth to a girl on Thursday, March 5. The baby weighed eight pounds 11 ounces. The actor’s rep issued a statement to People.com saying, “Baby and mother are happy and healthy and the new parents are thrilled.” The couple named the baby Aven Angelica.

Settle plays the character Rufus Humphrey, in the show, which deals with the lives of wealthy teens at a private school. His other TV credits include appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Wedding Bells and CSI: Miami. He has also done stints on hits like ER and Brothers & Sisters.

In an interview some time ago Settle was quoted as saying that, “… women are to be loved, not understood.” That attitude will serve him well as his newborn steals his heart. Congratulations to the new dad and his wife on this new addition to their family.

After her much talked about performance at the Grammy’s, it’s no surprise that rapper M.I.A. went into labor not long after. The British born rapper used her MySpace page to write about her baby’s birth. The father is her fiancé Benjamin Bronfman, a musician. A quote taken from her blog says that the newborn is “healthy, fine, beautiful.” So far the baby’s name has not been released.

In her Grammy performance she worked with rappers Kanye West, T.I., Lil Wayne and Jay –Z. She says that it was hours after this that she started going into labor. Her single Paper Planes was nominated for Record of the Year at the event. She may not have taken home the award but she has been blessed with one of the most rewarding experiences of all.

M.I.A. was born Mathangi Arulpragasam to a Sri Lankan family. The family moved back to Sri Lanka when she was six months old. Because of her father’s political beliefs, she had little contact with him growing up as he was being sought by the Sri Lankan army. The family moved a few times before eventually going back to the UK. Before becoming a rapper she made a name for herself as a visual artist. Actor Jude Law is among the names who have bought her work.

While M.I.A. is busy getting used to being a mom, model Kate Moss is busy fighting speculation that she is pregnant. She was quoted in an issue of New York Magazine as saying, “It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, ‘Are you pregnant?’ And I’m like, ‘No! I just put on a couple of pounds, and they went in the right place.’ Isn’t that weird?”

Moss, who is already mom to six year old Lila Grace from a previous relationship, is currently seeing rocker Jamie Hince. According to reports, the supermodel has been pictured with a bulging tummy. At any rate, her denials have so far not stopped the tabloids from speculating on the issue.

Kate Moss is one of the most successful models in the world. At one point Forbes magazine placed her at number two among top earners in the industry. In 2005 she was forced to issue an apology after photos surfaced which seemed to show her using drugs. By all reports however, it look like she has gotten her life and career back on track. This is particularly important if she is indeed pregnant.

Hollywood star Kevin Costner and his wife Christine Baumgartner have just had another son. According to reports, they named the baby Hayes Logan Costner. He was born on Thursday, February 12, and weighed 8 lbs 15 oz. Costner’s representative Arnold Robinson was quoted as saying, “Both mother and son are doing well.” In a recent radio interview Costner revealed his plans to name the baby Hayes, saying it was a “great Western name.” Costner is known to be a fan of the Western genre.

Costner and Baumgartner already have another son, Cayden Wyatt, who was born in May 2007. The couple has been married since September 2004. Costner was previously married to Cindy Silva, who was his childhood sweetheart, however they divorced in 1994. That union produced three children, Joe, Annie and Lily. Costner is also father to Liam, who was born in 1996 during a short relationship with Bridget Rooney.

As far as Hollywood is concerned, Costner has certainly had his ups and downs. Once a hot property in the industry his box office appeal has waned, but he still has many fans. Early in his career he was known for hits such as The Untouchables, No Way Out and Field of Dreams. He had a blockbuster hit in 1992 when he teamed with singer Whitney Houston for The Bodyguard.

After the film Waterworld misfired, he lost some of his Hollywood luster, but he still kept on working. Some of his more notable recent movies are Mr. Brooks, Dragonfly and The Upside of Anger.

With six children Costner can now be seen as one of the busier celebrity parents, especially since he is still pretty much a working actor. At 54 he is also in the older dads group, something which should make this experience even more interesting for him. He was once quoted as saying about fatherhood, “I can’t say I really see much difference between my son and daughters except that my girls will occasionally make me a sandwich and my son won’t.” How’s that for perspective?

Country singer Jo Dee Messina is singing an even happier tune than usual today. According to recent internet reports, she and her husband welcomed the first addition to their family. It was recently announced by the couple that Messina gave birth to a baby boy on Monday, January 19^th. The statement was made through Messina’s spokesperson.

The baby was named Noah, Roger Deffenbaugh. He was born at a hospital in Nashville and weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces. Messina and Deffenbaugh married in late 2007 in Nashville, after announcing their engagement in June of that year. Country singer Danielle Peck was one of the bridesmaids. According to reports online, each year Deffenbaugh gives Messina flowers to celebrate the anniversary of the day they met.

Messina was born in August, 1970 and her birth name was Jo Dee Marie Messina. She has had a successful music career, having had nine singles reach number one on the Billboard country music charts. She is the first female country singer to have three songs from an album reach number one. Two of her albums have been certified Platinum, while she has had three albums which reached Gold status.

She received the award for Top New Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 1998. She was honored by Billboard magazine in 1999 as the most played female country artist for that year. In 1999 she received the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award. She has also been recognized with a Grammy nomination.

Messina battled alcohol addiction in April 2004, being successfully treated at a center in Utah. Thankfully that all seems to be behind her now, and she can keep doing what she does best. Of course she can now add ‘mom’ to her list of titles.

Fans of the hit TV show Ugly Betty may be familiar with actor Christopher Gorham. He played the character Henry Grubstick from 2006 to 2008. Reports online reveal that the actor and his wife, actress Anel Lopez-Gorham have recently welcomed their third child.

The couple already has two sons, Lucas and Ethan. This time around they were blessed with a daughter they named Alondra Cecilia Lopez Gorham. Gorham’s statement regarding his daughter’s birth was short and simple. He was quoted on People.com as saying, “She’s perfect.” It sounds like little Alondra is already the apple of daddy’s eye.

Gorham and his wife were college sweethearts. He proposed to her outside Tiffany’s on Rodeo Drive. He reportedly had made a picnic breakfast so they could have their own Breakfast at Tiffany’s before going inside to get their rings. How’s that for romantic? They worked together on the TV series Popular which ran from 1999 to 2001.

He is no longer a part of the cast of Ugly Betty, but a few of his former cast mates have also had recent additions to their families. Rebecca Romijn and her husband Jerry O’Connell recently had twin girls Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip. Eric Mabius had a son, Rylan Jaxson Mabius, who was born in December. It has also been reported that Ana Ortiz is expecting her first child this summer.

Gorham got interested in acting pretty early. In the fourth grade he played the Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass. In fact his work was so good he won the Best Actor award, which was usually given to sixth graders. He got his official start in the business as an intern on Baywatch.
