Gillian Anderson, best known for her role as Agent Scully in the classic show X-Files, and husband Mark Griffiths, have just welcomed their second son together. Baby boy Felix was born in London last Wednesday and was a healthy 6.15 lbs. Their first child is also a boy, 23-month Oscar. Gillian may well tap her 14 year-old daughter Piper Maru from a previous marriage to babysit! Congratulations to the family.

Arguably one of the successful reality dating TV couple, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette’s alum Ryan and Trista Sutter just announced their second pregnancy. Trista is about 3 months pregnant, having learned of the current pregnancy right after son Maxwell ‘Max’ Alston’s first birthday on July 26. That would make this a spring baby!

Two of The Biggest Loser’s alum, who fell in love and married after the show, have just expanded their brood! Matt and Suzy Preston Hoover welcomed second son. Jax Paul last Thursday, September 11th in Seattle, Washington. The bouncing baby boy came in in at 7.6 lbs and 18.75 inches long. I’m sure big bro Rex Timothy, who is 14 months, is excited! Matt has this to say about the selection of their second son’s name:

“Our first son is named Rex, and that was unique and we wanted something that sounded similar that was also unique.”

Nicole Kidman has given birth to a baby girl, Us Magazine reports. The actress delivered 6-pound, 7-ounce Sunday Rose Kidman Urban on Monday morning.

It is the first child together for the Oscar-winning actress and her country music singer husband Keith Urban, 40. Kidman has two adopted children ? Connor, 13, and Isabella, 15 ? with her ex, Tom Cruise.

After the birth, Urban wrote on his Web site: “Earlier this morning, Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today.”

Amy Poehler has announced that she will soon become a real-life mama. Poehler, 36, star of the new movie ?Baby Mama,? and husband Will Arnett are expecting their first child, People magazine has reported. The couple?s baby is due in the fall.

Poehler?s new comedy movie, “Baby Mama,” which co-stars gal-pal and former “Saturday Night Live” alum Tina Fey of ?30 Rock? fame, was number 1 at the box office this weekend, taking in over $18.3 million. In addition, her new animated series, “The Mighty B!,” recently premiered on Nickelodeon.

Arnett, 37, who has been in many recent movies, may be best known for his role as the womanizing “illusionist” George Oscar “G.O.B.” Bluth II on the television show “Arrested Development.” He has appeared several times in cameo appearances on “30 Rock” as Devon Banks. Arnett is now shooting the comedy “When In Rome,” which co-stars Kristen Bell.

Poehler and Arnett have been married since 2003.

Do you remember a time when households had to borrow a camera from a neighbor or an aunt just so the latest addition to the family will have his picture taken? And do you remember a time when pictures are taken only during special occasions like birthdays and the Holidays (you know, those classic poses behind a birthday cake or in front of a Christmas tree?).

Well, in this digital age, that time is no more. Even cellphones can capture a baby’s everyday smiles now. And babies nowadays have hundreds of pictures taken even before they reach the age of one.

So what to do with these pictures?

Well, aside from uploading them to the internet to share with friends and family from afar, or posting printed copies on your ref, bulletin board, door, or bedroom wall, you can also use them for personalized souvenirs and giveaways for special occasions.

Sure, you can still give cupcakes and pies or knitted and cross-stitched somethings. I’m just saying that you might want to maximize the photos you have painstakingly taken (and with babies, it sure is not always easy to get them looking at the camera!). And there really is so many ways now to personalize gifts, it’s crazy.

My pregnancy came in the heels of two deaths in the family, which made it such a blessing that I didn’t wait for the birth to announce something. I sent out handmade (well, printed) Infanticipation Cards to friends and family and relished their glee when they called or e-mailed to congratulate us and wish us good luck after receiving the cards.

Fast forward to about nine months later. Turned out my baby had no intentions of coming out, something I had not counted on. And then I required a C-section, another thing I had not considered. And then our wonderful firstborn was colic, something nobody can really prepare for.

So despite the happy news of a healthy baby, we were not able to send out birth announcements. I just didn’t have the energy to make one, or order some.

Now, granting that most mothers don’t end up as tired and uninspired as I got, here are some tips for those who are planning to send out one:

1) KISS – Keep it Simple and Sweet. One picture would usually suffice. One quote would usually suffice. The necessary details are the date, time, full name of the baby. You can also include his weight and length or probably where he was born.

2) Be creative, unique, inventive – Digiscrap it. Send a bag of rice. Send out a onesie-shaped card in blue or pink. Send out teddy bears in blue or pink. Be funny with rhymes. Use a picture of a clock indicating the time of birth instead, or a picture of the newspaper that day (complete with the headlines). If it was a particularly long labor, say so on the card so the recipients can say the obligatory “Ouch” before their “Congratulations”. Send out chocolates with personalized wrappers.

3) Save Money – print the birth announcement yourself using your printer at home. Or have your digiscrapped layout printed like a photograph or postcard. Get excited friends to order it, and pay for it, for you. Recycle materials. Be resourceful with materials.

4) Utilize the Internet – get ideas for announcement wordings all over the net. Search for suppliers in your area the same way. Compare package prizes. Create a Free Online Birth Announcement or photo slide or video and send this out instead. Register in sites where you can upload pictures of the new baby, like Multiply or Friendster and get your friends to add your baby up!

5) Prepare Beforehand – digiscrap the layout weeks before your expected confinement so that you need only add the details later. Address the envelopes already. Have stamps ready. Buy the CDs (if you’re giving away a compilation of lullabies) ahead of time and burn the ‘album’ and print the labels already. Decide on a particular Bible quote or Chinese Proverb already.

Sending out birth announcements isn’t really imperative, but it is one of the surest ways to spread cheer and goodwill around. More people will also get to celebrate with you, because not everyone will celebrate Valentines, or a birthday, or Christmas, but everywhere in the world, a birth will always be a reason to believe in the wonderful.

Life often imitates art, especially in Hollywood, and today several popular celebrity gossip blogs reported that actress Teri Polo, 38, welcomed a daughter named Bayley on Thursday.

This is Polo’s first child with boyfriend, musician Jamie Wollam. She has a five-year old son from a previous marriage.

Polo joins the ever-growing list of celebrities who have given birth in the past year, including Katie Holmes, Jennifer Garner, Gwen Stefani, Jill Hennessey, Keri Russell and Tori Spelling. The celebrity baby boom will continue in the New Year, with Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Christina Aguilera joining the ranks of motherhood.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who is married to the Queen?s youngest son, Edward, gave birth to their second child, a boy, this week. Sophie and Edward already have a daughter, Lady Louise, who is now four but who was born a month early due to her mother becoming seriously ill. Due to this, an ectopic pregnancy and failed IVF, the couple had thought that they would have no more children. However, the newborn was conceived naturally and born by elective Caesarian section and weighed in at 6lb 2oz.

The child will be known as Viscount Severn, but has not yet been named, the couple took 17 days to name their first child. Sophie and Edward want their children to live as normal a life as possible and therefore they were born in a National Health Service Hospital rather than a private one and the parents have requested that they do not have the usual HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) before their names. The little boy is 8th in line for the throne.

Needless to say, the parents are delighted.
