Former “Punky Brewster” star and new mom Soleil Moon Frye has created one more way for parents to go green. She has opened The Little Seed, a children’s specialty boutique filled with eco-friendly and organic products. Frye paired up with fellow new moms Paige Goldberg Tolmach and Beth Birkett to open the store, which is located in the hip urban enclave of Larchmont Village, Los Angeles, CA. The founders’ say their goal was to create a one-stop shop for parents who wanted products made with organic or eco-friendly materials — from skincare to bedding to toys.
“After spending months on the web researching and buying non-toxic and organic products that wouldn’t irritate our babies’ skin, we realized that the search to find these items was shockingly difficult” says Tolmach, who also co-founded Swoon Candles.
“We wanted to create a physical space – and an accompanying Web site – where parents had the option to purchase stylish organic and eco products exclusively,” Frye says.
The entire store environment sets the example for a truly “green” experience – from the no VOC paint on the walls to the recycled shopping bags, shoppers will be surrounded by eco-friendliness. Products carried at the store include Orbit Baby Strollers; hand made woven toys and linens; sustainable and organic Stockmar crayons and paints; bed linens from Amenity, Coyuchi, and Dwell Baby; organic cotton clothes from Kate Quinn, Fauna, and Speesees; Like A Bike sustainable bicycles; 100% certified organic merino wool clothing and blankets by Nui Organics; and a variety of organic toys and body products.
The Little Seed will also provide a diaper changing station, a discreet nursing lounge, and an arts and crafts area for the kiddos. The store also plans to offer creative classes for kids and educational seminars for parents.
