You can rent movies, books and even handbags online — so why not toys? That was the idea behind Lori Pope’s new company, Baby Plays, an online company that allows customers to receive four or six toys in the mail each month — assembled, sanitized and ready for playtime.
Subscribers browse the company’s website to search among nearly 200 toys for newborns through preschoolers. Parents can build a wish list of toys they’d like to rent, and when they are available, they’re shipped to their door.
A three month subscription is $28.99 a month for four toys each month, and $35.99 a month to get six toys each month. Customers who sign a year-long contract can get six toys a month for $31.99.
