What Did You Do When You Found Out You Were Pregnant?
I was hanging out at my house one day, and started feeling odd. It’s hard to define the feeling, but there was certainly something different. So I headed out to the drugstore and bought a pregnancy test.
I got home, peed on the stick, and was startled to see it turning pink. My dog had followed me into the bathroom, so she was the first to know. I’m pregnant! I told her. She responded in her doggy way, which was asking to go out. We went to the park, I wandered around after the dog in a daze while she chased sticks and ran around, then went home. Only then did it dawn on me that I should probably tell my husband. I blame being in shock.
I drove out to his office, and told him in the parking lot. He did a combination of disbelief, and excitement. I had to pee on two more sticks when he got home from work that evening before he finally believed it.
By that time, my shock had worn off and I was feeling quietly calm, serene, excitement and anticipation about having a baby. It was a good feeling that I was blessed to have kept all through my pregnancy.
I called my mom and dad, and my grandma. The original plan was to wait until the end of the first trimester before we told friends, but since I had morning sickness from hell, my pregnancy was obvious to anyone who spent any time with me, so everyone knew almost as soon as we did.
What did you do when you found out you were pregnant? How did you feel? And who were the first people you told?

Brit,
Good post!!
I first suspected I was pregnant when I was soo tired that I nearly fell asleep between sets while I was weight lifting.
I was about to see a doctor about chronic fatigue syndrome, since I’d been feeling that way for about 2 weeks, when I realized the timing was such that I could be pregnant.
I called my husband at work and asked him to “come home for lunch–or sooner.” Well, the women he worked with knew exactly why I was calling. So he went back to his job and had to tell everyone.
Everyone knew as soon as we found out. The funny thing was we had an office party that night, so at least I didn’t have to make up excuses for not drinking. (Yes, it would have been weird for me not to be drinking at a party!! LOL) I remember one of the people at the party saying, “She’s, like, three minutes pregnant!” I still love that phrase.

Yeah, forgot to mention that, obviously, I took a pregnancy test. LOL
I remember bicycling up to my local Rite-Aid to buy the test, and I got three because the ‘bulk pack’ was on sale. LOL

I thought I had a stomach bug, but as it moved into week two of throwing up constantly I began to think something was seriously wrong. I did even think I could be pregeant because 4 months earlier my obgyn told me with out medical intervention it would be doubtfull that I could get pregnant. A freind of mine but the test and made me take it, it was postive but since I’ve had several false postives I just blew it off, but I did make an appointment with a local clinic for a blood test. When the Doc came back with the results I just sat there in shock. When he asked me if it wasn’t good news I told him it was but I was for sure that it would be negitive because I couldn’t have kids on my own. He laughed and told me that nature had a way of proving doctors wrong. I went home and told my SO who pretty much said he had figured out that I was postive. I got the same response from my best friend and brother. So it truns out that I was the last to “know”

I woke up one morning feeling strange, not sick but different. I took the test and instantly went and jumped on the bed to tell hubby.
The crazy part was that my best friend from another state had called that morning (Which she never does) and joked about me being preggers. I told her no then but my husband convinced me that I had to tell her because she must have mentally known. She was the first one we told. We told the rest of our family on New Years day , three weeks later.

I was going out that Friday and I thought I’d better be safe and take a pregnancy test just in case. Of course that would have been my 100th test and I didn’t expect anything. I took it early in the morning looked at it and didn’t see anything, then 2 minutes later I saw a pink line forming. I looked at the box then looked at the stick. I did that twice then I ran, half naked to wake dh to ask him what it ment. He said he didn’t know. I think we both were in shock. Three days later I took a blood test and it confirmed that I was pregnant.
