I agree I hope that this comes stateside soon!!!!! I had my daughter via C-section and I would say that I felt a lot was missing about the birthing procedure. My daughter was given to the professionals and my husband went over to watch. Ten minutes or so later she was brought over for me to look at... I was strapped down so that I wouldn't "accidentally forget" and reach down into the sterile drape. My daughter and my husband then left for her initial assessment and such. They called while I was still being stitched up with her stats and then off I went to the recovery room... where I sat watching a clock tick for an hour while the rest of my family was getting to know my child. After an hour I was wheeled into a room where they handed me this bundle and said " Not for long the meds might make you weak, and I know that you want to breastfeed but not right now she is too mucousy from the C-section" and sure enough three minutes into holding my child my arms were shaking and I had to hand her off. It wasn't until 10 or 12 hours after surgery at midnight the first time that we nursed that I was struck by the feeling that this REALLY was my child. In a lot of ways I still feel like I missed out on something... though I don't know what exactly. It could have been worse though... I could have gotten a general instead of a spinal. That is how they did it when my mother had one and it was several hours before she even saw my brother.
