Can you trust your pregnancy test? Have you ever gotten a false positive or a false negative result? I usually get “false negatives” when I test.
I know that pregnancy tests claim to yield accurate results as soon as the day of a missed period, but I haven’t really found that to be reliable in my case. Usually, I wait until I’ve missed a period by a week before I test. Even then, I’ve gotten false negatives.
I haven’t heard of another woman who has this issue. My friends were always able to test early and they got accurate results. I finally discovered what my “issue” was–I think. I dehydrate pretty easily and so I tend to drink a lot of water. This is enough I guess to affect the test results.
Since I’ve had children, I tend to have to use the bathroom quite frequently, even at night. Most tests also suggest that women test first thing in the morning because urine tends to be most concentrated in the morning. This isn’t the case for me because of those frequent night time bathroom trips I make.
This time, I did get a positive test, probably because I waited for 2 weeks after my missed period before I tested!
Have you ever gotten inaccurate results from a pregnancy test?

I wouldn’t say the results are inaccurate it just has a lot do with the user. Like you mentioned, not only WHEN you test but how long you held your urine, coupled with when implantation occurs has a huge impact on the result timing. Their testing guidelines of (missed period) is based on the average woman’s ovulation date, whereas many women ovulate earlier and later than average.
