Well, I'm pregnant right now. This is my second pregnancy and I've taken a different approach to it with alot of physical fitness and good nutrition. My first pregnancy had me gaining a little over 70 lbs. and I worked all that off, but this pregnancy I'm still gaining more then the 25 lbs. recommended. Try double that. Even though I exercise and watch my nutrition, I tend to snack all day because I get hungry all the time.

So I want to say two things about a diet during pregnancy. (1) I think it's possible, but instead of thinking of it as a diet, maybe a nutritional guideline would be better. Like for instance, plan to eat lots of fruits and veges during snacks, etc instead of baked goods(I crave them too!). But I would caution people from constricting calories in general. If you make sure the calories count better by eating nutritious "clean" food instead of things full of preservatives, you really won't need more than 300-600 calories a day. And (2) Getting more physical activity is a great way to ensure that your body is not getting too big. The more you move, the slimmer you will be anyway. Don't overdue it, but don't be lazy either.

I really think that some women just are inclined to gain more during pregnancy and there is very little you can do to stop that. I'm totally in that category. And if you are in that boat, just join Weight Watchers afterwards. It was great when I was breastfeeding...and I hear you can burn 800 calories a day breastfeeding without even having to get off the couch. Imagine what would happen if you coupled that with weight watchers and some exercise....lbs. will melt.
