With no fanfare, no announcement that it would be done beforehand, three of Heath Ledger’s costars and replacement in Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, quietly donated their salary to Matilda, his only daughter with actress Michelle Williams. Jude Law, Collin Ferrell, and Johnny Depp (Ledger’s replacement), have not done any interviews on this subject. The movie director, Terry Gilliam, is the one who has been quoted to report the act.
The lack of a media blitz, or any hint of a publicity stunt, is what is so amazing about this news. It is very important, in my opinion, to note that all three actors are dads themselves. You may recall that Heath Ledger had passed away due to an accidental overdose of prescription pills, and upon the reading of his will, it was discovered that he had not updated it to include his daughter. In effect, his estate has been left to his family in Australia. A stunning fact really, and one that underscores the need for a last will and testament. Ledger’s family made a public statement that Matilda would be well taken care of, but as rumors swill of battles over inheritance within the family, who knows?
Now, the three actors’ salaries will hopefully be set up in a trust fund for Matilda for future use, including college. The monetary contribution is significant, but the noble gesture is even more so.

This is so touching. I love celebrity role models, especially the ones who don’t talk about it.

Wow I teared up reading this. In a world where it is hard to respect so many ” role-models” THIS is truly inspirational!

This is a perfect example of why you should always update you will. You should read over it yearly to see if it needs updating. It’s good to see these actors can realize when some vigilante justice is needed.
