Celebrity Birth Announcement: Padma Lakshmi
Padma Laskshmi, 39 yrs. old, and the Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef has given birth to a daughter. And we finally find out the much-anticipated name, which Padma has hinted at many times. She didn’t deviate from the plan of giving her daughter a traditional Indian name of Krishna Thea Lakshmi. Little Krishna, was born February 20 in New York City, and a rep of the couple reports that both Mom and baby are “well and happy”. The father of the baby is unknown, though reports persist that it is venture capitalist and Columbia Business School teacher Michael Dell.

The name of Krishna is traditionally a boy’s name in Hindu cultures. It’s meanings include black, and it’s also one of the traditional Hindu gods. Thea is of Greek origin, and it’s meaning is also goddess or Gift of God. Neither of the names are currently ranked as one of the top 100 baby names in the U.S
