Boy Survives Avalanche in Park City, Utah

utah.jpgThere?s a saying that kids are more resilient than we think they are. Eleven-year old Max Zilvitis is living proof of that.
On Dec. 23, Zilvitis was skiing with his family in Park City, Utah. He was skiing down a run when he heard his father call out the word ?avalanche.? The next thing he knew, he was buried under snow. His father was partly buried in the snow, but he managed to get out and call for help on his cell phone.

After thirty minutes, rescuers were able to dig Zilvitis out from under five feet of snow. He was blue and not breathing when he was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was diagnosed as suffering from hypothermia.

Despite the ordeal, Zilvitis said he is now feeling great and doesn?t plan to stay off the slopes anytime soon. In fact, his family reported that he already asked his mother where his ski pass is.
