Melissa,

thanks for your kind words and wishes. Since the diagnosis, I've been doing a lot of reading... and I do know at least three very "fit" people with Type 2 diabetes, so rationally, I know it's not "just" a disease caused by heavy weight. (And I didn't mean to offend with my comment, just be honest about my feelings). I don't have any of the genetic/heredity factors, either, which is why the whole thing is so strange to me.

I'm so sorry you had to have insulin shots throughout your pregnancy. I am VERY fortunate that I've been able to control it very well through diet and exercise alone, and I also started adding cinnamon supplements to my meals 2 X a day, and regular "grocery store" cinnamon whenever possible. (The supplement stuff is too expensive to use all the time!)

I haven't noticed a big change since I started taking the cinnamon... pretty much the same across the board since I started on the nutritionist's meal plan.

I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with GD. Hang in there though, you'll get through it. I have type two diabetes and all through my pregnancy I was on four insulin shots. My dosages kept getting bigger and bigger. Mornings were the worst, that is when your hormones are at top level and when your insulin resistance is at its peak. This is a good thing though because it shows that your placenta is doing its job. Look at it this way... your body is just a little bit stressed at all the hard work of making a baby. Baby both of you by following your diet and getting a little bit of exercise in. You'll make it. And I say guilt shmilt, your poor body is very busy. Keeping all those balls in the air is VERY hard work, give yourself a break. ( and for the record as a diabetic it is more genetic than because of weight. Sometimes its just how the cookie crumbles :)
