Recycling Holiday Cards

Recycling Holiday Cards

recyclegreen.jpgWith a little creativity and some ordinary household supplies, consumers can recycle their holiday cards into a variety of useful items.
Trish over at ParentDish.Com had a great idea for the ones that are just too pretty to put in the recycle bin. She frames them using inexpensive frames and puts them out every year as decorations.

Cards that are really pretty can be used to make Christmas ornaments for next year. Simple cut out two matching shapes from the card and mount them on either side of foam board cut to size. Punch a hole at the top, add a festive ribbon and Ta – Da! A homemade Christmas keepsake.

Other Ideas:

Placemats – simply mount the cards collage-style on construction paper and laminate.

Gift tags – use scissors with fun edges, a hole punch and ribbon to create tags for the next year.

Post cards – draw a line down back of the picture portion and add your Christmas greetings next year.

Scrapbook it – scrappers can use the colorful designs to enhance their pages.
