		<description>My son learned to read well before kindergarten. But some parents don&#039;t understand that reading a little early is not necessarily a sign of higher intelligence. If your child seems to be learning some sight words in his favorite books, you can probably start to teach him phonics. But as long as kids read by second grade, they are generally OK as far as school performance goes.</description>
