These are great ideas, and sound a lot like a book I read recently that says we can foster early literacy, even in toddlers: "Native Reading: How to Teach Your Child to Read, Easily and Naturally, Before the Age of Three." It sounds too good to be true but it makes so much sense, for kids to learn the written language as they learn to talk! A stay at home dad wrote it. It makes some of the "genius" babies on TV seem not so remarkable after all.

Great tips. I take my sons regularly to the local library. This may seem a rather mundane activity for 2 active 4-year olds but they surprisingly love it.
