Sacramento radiothon (Feb 19-21) for children’s hospitals
Radio fans, take note. It’s the 9th Annual Radiothon (February 19 to 21) this weekend at Sacramento, California. What’s a radiothon? Well, as you can probably guess, it’s a marathon radio broadcast. Every year, radio stations all over the US open up their air waves in partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), an international not-for-profit organization that raises money for children’s hospitals.
During the 3 days and 3 nights of the radiothon, local radio stations (instead of their regular programs) will feature stories of “inspiration, hope, and healing” of pediatric patients and their families in order to raise funds for local children’s hospitals. In addition, there will be information programs, interviews of health professions as well as of patients, all for the cause of increasing awareness about the health and health care problems facing children today.
The Sacramento Radiothon is the biggest of its kind – the largest local fundraising media event. During the last seven years, it  raised over 3 million dollars for CMN. All of the proceeds of Sacramento Radiothon will benefit the University of California at Davis Children’s Hospital.
