Poor Semen Quality in Obese Men

poorsemenobesemen.jpgObese men have poorer quality semen compared to those men with normal weight. A US study compared the semen quality of 94 men with normal weight and 168 men who are overweight.
The results showed that obese men have low motility sperm and low sperm counts compared to normal weight men. These findings show that the accumulation of fatty tissue in men may lead to low testosterone levels and high estradiol levels. This hormonal imbalance results in poor quality semen in obese men. The research also showed that erectile dysfunction is not related to weight. Both obese and normal weight men have equal chances of having this problem.
