July 3: National Stay Out Of The Sun Day
It’s the middle of summer, the sun is right overhead, and it’s hot. This week, we’ve had plenty of sun: we’ve been to a pool party, a garden party, we are going to an Independence Day party tomorrow. Then, there’s a big festival and parade in our town on Friday.
Thursday, July 3, is “Stay Out Of The Sun” day. Perhaps because everyone is going to be out-of-doors for Fourth of July celebrations the day after?
It’s a good reminder to take a break from the rays, and do something indoors (air conditioning, I love you) or stay in the shade.
Visit a shady park, set the paddling pool up under a tree, take a trip to the beach with a big umbrella, or renew your commitment to keeping your toddler’s hat on his head.
Sunscreen is still very important for little ones, even in the shade, and stay hydrated – extra nursing sessions or extra formula, and plenty of milk or other drinks for toddlers.
Have a fun day!
