I remember one of the LVN's at the nurse where I gave birth at. I was learning how to make my son latch and she wanted to do it for me. At one point, she even lightly slapped my hand because I wanted to do it myself. I didn't get pissed but I firmly asked her that I wanted to talk to a Lactation consultant.

Not all nurses were that way though and when my son was in the NICU (for jaundice) they made sure to tell me that breastmilk was best and they gave me collection bottles for me to use for pumping.
