Evacuation checklist for parents
With yet another hurricane makings its way to the Gulf Coast, many people are preparing for the worst — sealing up their homes and getting ready to evacuate before the storms arrive.
The March of Dimes has released advice for parents of infant babies for how to pack in the event that you need to evacuate for a hurricane, although the advice could also apply to any disaster. Before a disaster, parents should be sure to contact their baby’s health care provider to let them know where you and baby will be. Pack the necessary items you’ll need, including baby’s immunization records, any cherished photos or keepsakes, and a breast pump if you’re using one. Also listed are tips for after the evacuation and how to stay healthy.
