Paris Wants To Teach Kids About Crafts
Socialite and tabloid magnet Paris Hilton has reportedly put her name on another venture. According to online reports she is set to release a new craft set made for kids. Titled ‘Paris Hilton, the Creative Collection’ the set is expected to be unveiled at the Craft & Hobby Association 2009 Winter Convention & Trade Show.
The new kit has been described as “a multi-faceted line of fashion crafting kits from some of the most popular craft segments including scrapbooking, jewelry making and fabric embellishment.” Other Hilton ventures include a hair extensions line, footwear and clothing, and a fragrance range.
Hilton seems to have cleaned up her act since serving time in jail for violating her probation by driving with a suspended license. The sentence seems to have had little impact on her popularity much to the chagrin of many parents. At any rate it’s best to reserve judgment on her new project until it is actually released. Will it be a high quality item that will really stimulate learning and creativity? Or will it be just another quickly put together item seeking to coast on a celebrity name? Only time will tell.
She is not the first celeb to undertake a project with children in mind. Madonna and Jamie Lee Curtis have both written children’s books. Kimora Lee has a line of clothing for children for which her two daughters are models. While Paris may be the first celeb to come out with something of this nature, she can certainly learn a thing or two from these other successful celebs.
I hope that this will be a good product for children, and that people won’t be buying it just because of the name attached. Surely we can teach our children more than that. So mark your calendars for Sunday, January 25 if you plan to check out the trade show to be held in Anaheim, California. Other features include a presentation and book signing. It may be a fun event for the whole family, especially the little ones.
