Nahla Ariela Aubry – Halle Berry Names her Daughter

Oscar award winning actress, Halle Berry and her boyfriend, Canadian model, Gabriel Aubry have finally named their newborn daughter. The couple’s first child was born on Sunday, March 16. The proud parents didn’t name their baby right away as they wanted to meet her first before doing so. According to sources, Halle told her friend, Nancy Odell that the correct pronunciation of Nahla Ariela is GNAW-lah ARE-ee-EL-uh…time will tell what the proper pronunciation is.
The source of the names is up to debate, but it is known that Nahla is ‘honeybee’ in Arabic and Ariela, a Hebrew name means “lioness of God.” The names may also have some connection with Disney movies The Lion King and The Little Mermaid as well. The Lion King had a Nala and The Little Mermaid is Ariel.
It’s good to know that the 41-year old mom and her beau didn’t follow suit in Hollywood and give the little girl a ‘way out’ name as has become the norm. Penn Jillette naming his daughter ‘Moxie CrimeFighter’ comes quickly to mind.
Now, I’m sure everyone is anxiously awaiting the first pictures of little Miss Nahla Ariela Aubry. If reports online are true, the couple has no plans to sell their daughter’s first pictures to the highest bidder.
