Mike Tyson’s 4-Year Old Daughter Dies
If you are like me you may have been whispering a silent prayer for former boxing champ, Mike Tyson’s 4-year old daughter. The news broke yesterday that she was found unconscious at home after accidentally being caught in the cable from a treadmill. Police said that she either fell and got tangled or placed the cord around her neck while playing. The cable acted like a noose resulting in her being accidentally hung.
Sadly, little Exodus was pronounced dead on Tuesday, May 26 at about 11:45AM after she was removed from life support. From news reports the youngster accidentally hanged herself on the piece of exercise equipment in the family’s home. Police in the family’s home town of Phoenix said the child’s death was the result of a ‘tragic accident’.
Only a parent who has lost a child can understand the pain the parents, Tyson and his wife and Exodus’ mom, are going through. They have not made any statements personally following the tragedy but their spokesperson said they are ‘thankful for the prayers and support’ they have received since the incident on Monday, May 25.
While everyone is focusing on Exodus and her death at such a tender age, her 7-year old brother should not be forgotten. It is he who found his young sister tangled on the treadmill and went to fetch his mother. Hopefully he will receive some counseling as they go through this period of grief.
As parents we can never be too careful in practicing safety at home as danger lurks in the most unsuspecting places. Despite how self-reliant some of them may seem to be our children need almost constant supervision because they have very little fear. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family on the loss of a precious child. May her soul rest in peace.
