Well, the much anticipated birth has occurred. Jamie Lynn Spears, 17-year old sister of pop star Britney Spears had her first child today at 9:30AM at the Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center. The baby, named Maddie Briann is also the first for teenage dad, 19-year old Casey Aldridge. Baby Maddie weighed 7lbs, 11 ounces according to Internet reports. The Spears family was said to have been present for the birth.
The Zoey 101 star created a shock when she announced her pregnancy last year because of her age at the time, 16; she turned 17 on April 4th. In March 2008, it was announced that Spears and Aldridge were engaged although no wedding date has been announced.
Like 2007, 2008 is seeing quite a number of celebrities giving birth. In addition to those who have already given birth, others are being stalked by paparazzi as they wait to break the news of yet another celebrity baby coming into the world. Other births for this year that are being anxiously awaited are: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins, Matthew McConaughey and fiancée – Camilla Alves and Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz.

Wow. It’s great that they are all healthy, but what a rash decision. A little consideration might have been worthwhile. Like those teens on Baby Borrowers on that TV show. At least they were willing to test their abilities with kids without pumping them out right away…
