Mother’s Day for Expectant Moms

Posted on April 11th, 2008

If Mother’s Day rolls around and you’re pregnant - but you don’t have any other children yet - you’ll probably still feel entitled to celebrate. After all, you’re growing a baby inside you, and if that doesn’t make you eligible to get some recognition on Mother’s Day then I’m not sure what does. [...]

…Safe and Fun Easter Baskets for the Wee Ones
Last year, was my son’s second Easter, but the first one that he “got.” With a February birthday, the first one was as interesting to him as paint drying, but last year’s presented a dilemma for a mama with a 14-month old at the time. I didn’t [...]

Party Time

When my daughter’s first birthday rolled around I wanted to shout it from the rooftops: “My daughter is a year old! Everyone celebrate!” I was so tempted to go all out with her party - I’m talking clowns, ponies, and a cake the size of my couch - but I didn’t. We settled for [...]

Happy New Year … times two

Posted on January 5th, 2008

A Pennsylvania woman has been making a habit of ringing in the New Year not with Champagne, but with a baby. For the second year in a row, Becky Armstrong has given birth on January 1. If you are reading in America, you are probably thinking, what?
Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and other commonwealth countries all celebrate Boxing Day, on the day after Christmas Day. It’s usually a public holiday. That’s why any ex-pats at your office are grumpy today, because everyone back home is still on [...]

Embrace the Chaos

My house is a mess.
It’s so comical when I try to clean up the house that I swear I can hear circus music playing in the background. There have been times when I would clean up a room and have just enough time to survey the delightful scene when immediately one or both of [...]
