Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima has given birth to a baby girl, her first with NBA star Marco Jaric of the Memphis Grizzlies. They have christened their daughter with the name Valentina Lima Jaric. A representative for the couple has announced that “Mother, father and baby are all doing well.”

Valentina is a popular Latin America name which means ‘healthy and strong’. Mexican actress Salma Hayek also chose the name for her daughter two years ago.

So will Mom walk down a Victoria’s Secret catwalk weeks after giving birth like VS alum Heidi Klum? And will Valentina choose to walk down a runway or down the courts of the WBNA when she grows older? Only time will tell.

Adriana 28, and husband Marco, 31, met in 2006, got engaged two years later, married back in February and announced the pregnancy soon after the honeymoon.

“We are so excited!” she announced back in May. “We wanted this. We were ready.”

Former Victoria’s Secret model and Project Runway host, Heidi Klum gave birth to her fourth child on October 9th.  Proud musician father Seal, and Mom couldn’t help but release a touching tribute regarding the birth.

“It’s difficult to imagine loving another child as much as you love your existing children,” Seal writes. “Anyone who has a family will tell you this. Where will one find that extra love? If you love your existing children with all of your heart, how then can one possibly find more heart with which to love another?

On Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at 7:46 p.m., the answer to this question came in the form of our fourth child and second daughter,” he continues. “Lou Sulola Samuel was born, and from the moment she looked into both of our eyes, it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years.”

Quick check on Google didn’t return any hits for possible meaning or origin of  the unique moniker “Sulola” but I myself like it.  What do you think of the  name?

Lou Sulola joins older siblings Leni, 5, Henry, 4, and Johan, 2 1/2.  We hope to get a glimpse of this cutie soon!

Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddi Prince jr.

I was thrilled to find out months ago that Sarah Michelle Prinze, the actress from my favorite TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and husband Freddie Prinze, Jr.24, were expecting after six years of marriage.  I was even more thrilled to find out that Sarah and Freddie welcomed baby girl Charlotte Grace Prinze last Sunday, Sept. 19th.

No quirky names for this little girl; the Prinzes must be fond of classic names.  The couple’s rep has announced that the Prinzes are “over the moon” about their daughter.  I wonder if we’ll see any playdates between who’s set to join the cast of Charlotte, Satyana (Alyson Hannigan’s daughter) or even David Boreanaz’s daughter Bardot Vida in the future?

Ellen Pompeo & Chris Ivery

As for Grey’s Anatomy star, Ellen Pompeo, and music producer husband Chris Ivery, they welcomed their own baby girl on Tuesday, Sept. 15th in Los Angeles.  The couple kept the birth under wraps and no official announcement was made until yesterday.  The baby’s name? Also on the side of “normal”: Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery.  Stella will have plenty of playmates if mom brings her to work on set: Katherine Heigl’s Naleigh, and Chyler Leighs’ Anniston Kae.

Julie Chen &Les Moonves

Breaking the baby girl trend, TV show host Julie Chen and CBS’ CEO Les Moonves, welcomed son Charlie at 9:40 a.m. in Los Angeles on Thurs, September 24th.  Charlie (another classic name!), was due on October 4th.  He is a little premature by a few weeks, but at this stage of development, his is considered a safe birth.  Charlie joins half-siblings Adam, Michael and Sara, Moonves’ children from a previous marriage.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have just announced that they are expecting their 19th child.  The reality TV show family just welcomed their 18th child into the world a short 8 months ago and are expecting the birth of their first grandchild in in October.

Michelle, who is 42, says that she is tired and nauseous, but mentioned that tired an nauseous was pretty normal for the first trimester of pregnancy.  Michelle also homeschools all of the school aged children and has taught each child to play the violin.  Jim Bob, along with help from the rest of the family, built their new home.

For those of you who were wondering, along with me, the family figures that they have changed an estimated 90,000 diapers and that they do approximately 200 loads of laundry per month.  Michelle has not been pregnant for 147 months of her life which is only about 12 years.

The newest addition is expected to be born around March 18th.  The Duggar’s first grandchild, a baby girl, is due October 18th.

After a brush with preterm labor last month, Dustin Pedroia’s wife, Kelli, delivered a healthy baby boy on Tuesday, August 18th.  This is the first child for the couple.  The boy, whom they christened Dylan weighed in at 7 lbs.

Dustin Pedroia is the second baseman for the Boston Red Sox.  There were concerns he wouldn’t be able to make it to the birth but he made it just in the nick of time with a last-minute flight back from Toronto to be at his wife’s side.

His teammates have all been supportive.  Says Kevin Youkilis:

“I think it’s great for him after everything she’s been through [referring to her brush with preterm labor], Dustin’s been through mentally. It’s going to be a great thing for Dustin.”

Manager Terry Francona has put no pressure on the new Dad’s return, saying: “I told him his first responsibility is Kelli and that child.” Wish all bosses would show the same support, eh?

Congratulations to the new parents!

He is currently the world’s number one in tennis, easily the best tennis player of all times with 15 Grand Slam Championships Titles under his belt. During the last few months he collected one title after the other, from the French Open to Wimbledon. But for Roger Federer, the best title was to be the proud Daddy of Charlene Riva and Myla Rose. The twin girls were born here in Switzerland on July 23. The babies and Mommy Mirka, also a one-time professional tennis player, are all doing fine. Finally, Roger’s dream of having his child watch him play will soon come true, though it’s two children actually.

The whole country of Switzerland is happy to welcome the two new Swiss citizens. Everybody knew that Mirka and Roger were expecting but the news about having twins were kept a secret up to the time of delivery. As usual, the happy tidings were first posted in Federer’s personal website, just as he did about their nuptials last Easter.

“This is the greatest day of our lives. Mirka, Myla and Charlene are all healthy and doing very well.”, the proud Daddy writes. What a great birthday gift for the tennis star who is turning 28 this coming August 8.

Federer is reported to be taking time off from tennis to spend time with his three ladies big and small but will soon be back on the courts later this summer.

Celebrity: Molly Ringwald

First up is former teen queen Molly Ringwald.  The star of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, along with husband Panio Gianopolous welcomed fraternal twins Adele Georgiana and Roman Stylianos last July 10th.   Both entered the world through natural delivery, and joins 5 1/2 yr. older sis Mathilda Ereni.

Celebrity: Karolina Kurkova

Expecting her first child, former Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova has finally officially announced her pregnancy.  Dad-to-be is fiance Archie Drury, associated with the documentary Voices of Iraq, have been together for a little over a year and Karolina is six months along, making this baby an October arrival.  Karolina’s latest project is the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, in which she plays Courtney A. Kreiger.

Celebrity: Joey McIntyre

And expecting their second addition to the family, Joey McIntyre, formerly of the New Kids on the Block, announced that wife Barrett is due in December.  A Christmas gift for sure.  The baby, another boy, will join big brother Griffin Thomas of 20 mos.

Actress Ana Ortiz is now a mom. She recently gave birth to her fist child, a baby girl named Paloma Louise Lebenzon. The newborn weighed a healthy seven pounds, 10 ounces at birth. Ortiz is married to musician Noah Lebenzon. The couple got married in 2007 in Puerto Rico.

A spokesperson for the actress told People.com: “She is elated and completely glowing. She is surrounded by her friends and family and so happy to be a mom. She is just really enjoying the moment. The baby is absolutely beautiful.”

Ortiz, a Manhattan native, is probably best known to fans for her role in the hit show, Ugly Betty. She plays Hilda Suarez, the older sister of America Ferrera’s title character. Interestingly, she had originally tried out for the role of Betty Suarez in Ugly Betty. She was quoted as saying of the experience, “I was super plain. I just put on some glasses and kept my hair kind of flat and layered on the clothing. I just wanted them to remember me, so that I could be involved in the future.” Well it seems like that part of her plan worked.

The 38-year old actress has gotten high praise for her parenting skills from the actor who plays her son in the hit series. He was quoted as saying, “She will be an amazing mom. Ana has the biggest heart and she’s so loving. She’s also laid back and chilled but at the same time she’s forceful and knows how to discipline someone if she has to be. It’s the perfect combination in being a great mom. She’s done it with me a bunch of times when I got out of line. She’s definitely my second mom.”

Celebrity parents Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker have welcomed two new additions to their family, two baby girls. According to reports online the surrogate who was carrying their twins gave birth on Tuesday morning. The two bundles of joy were born at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. Reports indicate that the happy couple was in attendance for the birth.

A representative for the couple was quoted as saying, “The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon.” Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weight at birth was 5 pounds and 11 ounces, while Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed an even 6 pounds. Both baby names are said to come from Parker’s side of the family. Reports also indicate that the babies were named immediately after they came into the world.

Broderick and Parker have a son James Wilkie who is now six years old. They had trouble conceiving again which led to their decision to use a surrogate. Sadly once the story broke it took on a life of its own and the ugly side of celebrity reared its head. Media outlets were practically falling over themselves to find out more about the woman carrying the babies. In the latest twist to this story, Barry Carpenter, Martin’s Ferry’s Police Chief, is being investigated following accusations that he tried to pry into the life of the surrogate mother. He was said to be doing this at the request of a tabloid reporter.

Now that the babies are here, it is hoped that the intense interest will die down, and for the sake of the babies they will be allowed some space. In today’s celebrity obsessed world however, that is probably too much to ask for. At one point some reports pointed to Parker being concerned for the surrogate’s safety.

Other celebrities who have used a surrogate to carry their babies include Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance, Karen Duffy, an MTV VJ and actress, Fraser star Kelsey Grammer and his wife Camille.

Congratulations to Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick of the birth of their twins. Both parents have demanding Hollywood careers so they can expect to be even busier going forward.

“Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!”…

That’s how Max Armstrong introduced himself to the world via Twitter on June 4. In the process, he is on his way to catching up with his Dad, the legendary 7-time Tour de France champion and testicular cancer survivor has more than 1 million followers on Twitter. And I thought my 200+ followers was a lot!

Daddy Lance Armstrong now ranks as number 14 in the world in terms of number of Twitter followers, thanks to Max and his bike, right between The New York Times (number 13) and Cold Play (number 15). Not to be outdone, little Max (full name Maxwell Edward Armstrong) also has his own Twitter account now, with over 3,700 followers. Not bad for a 10-day old baby, eh? He is entertaining his followers with cute tweets on hiccups, poops, and passport application. I’m not surprised if collects followers as fast as his Dad. He definitely has won me over!

Max made his entrance with perfect timing: right after Daddy finished Giro d’Italia but before the start of Tour de France (ah, that’s what the passport is for!). At birth, the little celebrity weighed 7lbs 5oz and measured 20 inches long. His mom Anna Hansen and his daddy Lance Armstrong were so happy to welcome Max who was conceived naturally. After recovering from testicular cancer, the chances of natural reproduction for Lance were slim. Max has one half-brother and two half-sisters from Daddy’s previous marriage to Kristin Richard.

Let’s cheer little Max on as he gives his fast Daddy a run for his money!

Baby Bump

Most baby books and doctors recommend that baby #2 come after baby #1 is at least two years old.  Jason Priestley 39,  and wife Naomi Lowde, makeup artist, are ignoring this rule however!  Firstborn Ava Veronica, 21 months, now has a sibling to look forward to.  The couple confirmed the news with usmagazine.com through their rep though they haven’t announced a due date.  I haven’t seen any pictures of Ava with big smiles yet, and I hope that she and future baby brother/sister inherit their parents gorgeous dimples!

Baby Birth

Josh Holloway, 39,who plays the handsome and wild Sawyer on ABC’s Lost, is now a first-time father!  Wife of 5 years, Yessica Kumala gave birth to the couple’s first child in beautiful Oahu,  on Apr. 9.  They have named the baby girl Java Kumala Holloway.  Although the couple has not confirmed it, I wonder whether their daughter’s name is an homage to wife Yessica’s Indonesian background (though she is a native of Jakarta, not Java)?  In any case, it is a unique name.

Late last night, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools welcomed their third daughter, Petal Blossom Rainbow.  Little Petal weighed 6lbs 10oz and has two big sisters, Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo.

The couple clearly love flowery names and when the world learned of their newest bun in the oven, our blogger Jessdel27 correctly guessed that the new baby would get another botanical name.

British chef, better known as the Naked Chef, stars in Food Network shows, his latest is Jamie at Home, shown on Saturday evenings. One of Jamie’s passions is cooking for kids, and making good food for children. He leads a campaign for healthier school meals in the UK, and meals on his show are very family friendly, no weird ingredients or complex preparations, and apparently tested on his own family.

Trista and Ryan Sutter, alums of reality TV show The Bachelor, welcomed their second child into the world Friday, April 3rd, in their home state of Colorado.  This second time garnered the couple a girl (perhaps future Bachelorette?).  Christening the child with the name Blakesly Grace after being delivered via C-section, she weighs 6.2 lbs and is 19 in. long.  Welcome to the world baby girl!

According to Life & Style, Trista has announced that “everything is really good”.

Now, I wonder what they will be calling the baby?  Blake, Grace, Gracey, or will they refuse to let the name Blakesly languid unused and forego any nicknames?  Readers, what do you think of the unusual name?

I can only wonder what the title of this sitcom would be. Charlie Sheen, already a dad to three daughters, now has twin boys to add to that number. According to reports, his wife Brooke Mueller gave birth on Saturday night to the couple’s first children.

A statement from his publicist Stan Rosenfield revealed that the boys were born a few weeks early, but that they were just fine. The new bundles of joy were named Bob and Max. Rosenfield was quoted as saying, “He’s a family man, now he has three daughters and two sons. He’s a wonderful father.”

The couple made the announcement last October that they were expecting twins. They got married last May. Sheen’s first child is 24-year-old Cassandra with ex-girlfriend Paula Profitt. His daughters Sam and Lola with ex-wife Denise Richards are now 4 and 3 respectively.

Of late there seems to be a continual stream of multiples, especially twins being born to celebrities. The impressive list of celebs who are parents to twins includes Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony, Marcia Cross and Tom Mahoney, Nancy Grace and David Linch and Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder.

In general, there are more twins being born nowadays. The factors contributing to this include older maternal age and improved reproductive techniques. Having more than one at one time can be a challenge, but it can also be double the fun.

Congrats to the newest additions to the twins fraternity. Hope you all noticed that their names are of the good, old-fashioned variety.

If someone deserves a little happiness today, I think it’s Niki Taylor. The 33 year-old (to be 34 on Thursday!) American supermodel and enterpeneur has had her share of mishaps and misfortunes. But on Wednesday morning, she delivered a healthy baby girl. Things are looking up.

Ciel Taylor Lamar joins older brothers, 14 year old twins Jake and Hunter (born to Taylor and her first husband, Matt Martinez). Born in Nashville, little Ciel weighs 7 and a half pounds.

“Everyone is doing amazing,” says Niki’s friend and long-time manager, Lou Taylor. (Despite the last name, the two are not related.) As yet, not many details have been released, including whether the baby was delivered naturally or c-section. However, in a recent interview, Taylor was hopeful. “I had the worst pain I could imagine after [a 2001 car] accident and surgeries,” she said. “I can do natural childbirth!” She would not have been able to have an epidural due to rods placed in her spine following the accident, which nearly took her life, but luckily, spared her face–and career.

Taylor and husband Burney Lamar (a Nascar driver) were married in 2006 after a whirlwind courtship of 3 months. The two celebrities met while signing autographs. They shared three dates and were engaged! But while the two were eager to have a child together, it took a little longer than the supermodel hoped. “Every month it wasn’t happening I was feeling more frantic,” she said. When she confirmed the pregnancy finally, she said, “I am so happy and ready…I am in such a wonderful place in my life that I can really enjoy it all.”

Despite astounding success as a model (she signed her first contract at age 13, and 400 covers later, it’s been uphill from there!), her life hasn’t always been as wonderful as it is right now. Beginning with the demise of her first marriage at the age of 20, Taylor has shouldered a lot of burdens in her adult life, including the death of her younger sister Krissy, a life-threatening car crash, and a struggle against prescription painkillers.

Her May 2001 car accident caused severe internal injuries including a collapsed lung and liver damage. She awoke six weeks later, underwent 56 surgeries as well as extensive physical therapy. The ordeal, however, jump started her faith. Taylor was featured in the May 2006 issue of Guideposts Magazine as she vowed never to miss another Mother’s Day and fought to survive in order to raise her twins.

The model, the driver, the twins, and the baby-in-belly can be seen in magazines this month in advertisements for Sketchers shoes. I’m happy to see that she is back in the game of life. I hope this baby, this birthday are the start of a great year with great things ahead.

A new Starr is born.

Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm gave birth to a daughter on Sunday. The baby girl, named Scarlet Starr, weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 oz. This is the fist child for Chisholm and her long-time boyfriend, Thomas Starr. Chisholm and Starr, a property developer, have been together for six years.

Once known as the brunette “Sporty Spice,” Chisholm’s daughter was born at 4:10pm in London. On her website, mum says that she and the baby are both “beautiful” and “doing fine.”

Sporty is the last of the Spice Girls to join the ranks of motherhood. Well-known Victoria Beckham and husband David Beckham have three sons. Melanie Brown has two girls. Emma Bunton is mother to one boy; Geri Halliwell is mum to one girl. The group was formed in 1994 by Simon Fuller (of American Idol). Their first album sold more copies than any other female group in history. Together with their second album, they are the second most popular group ever in British history, after the Beatles.

Though Chisholm’s career started with the Spice Girl’s, it didn’t end there. She trails only John Lennon and Paul McCartney for co-writing the most number-one singles (and she is #1 for female writers). As a performer, Melanie C. is the only woman to reach #1 on British charts as part of a quintet, quartet, duo and solo artist. She has released four solo albums, with multiple hits and award-nominated songs.

After her much talked about performance at the Grammy’s, it’s no surprise that rapper M.I.A. went into labor not long after. The British born rapper used her MySpace page to write about her baby’s birth. The father is her fiancé Benjamin Bronfman, a musician. A quote taken from her blog says that the newborn is “healthy, fine, beautiful.” So far the baby’s name has not been released.

In her Grammy performance she worked with rappers Kanye West, T.I., Lil Wayne and Jay –Z. She says that it was hours after this that she started going into labor. Her single Paper Planes was nominated for Record of the Year at the event. She may not have taken home the award but she has been blessed with one of the most rewarding experiences of all.

M.I.A. was born Mathangi Arulpragasam to a Sri Lankan family. The family moved back to Sri Lanka when she was six months old. Because of her father’s political beliefs, she had little contact with him growing up as he was being sought by the Sri Lankan army. The family moved a few times before eventually going back to the UK. Before becoming a rapper she made a name for herself as a visual artist. Actor Jude Law is among the names who have bought her work.

While M.I.A. is busy getting used to being a mom, model Kate Moss is busy fighting speculation that she is pregnant. She was quoted in an issue of New York Magazine as saying, “It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, ‘Are you pregnant?’ And I’m like, ‘No! I just put on a couple of pounds, and they went in the right place.’ Isn’t that weird?”

Moss, who is already mom to six year old Lila Grace from a previous relationship, is currently seeing rocker Jamie Hince. According to reports, the supermodel has been pictured with a bulging tummy. At any rate, her denials have so far not stopped the tabloids from speculating on the issue.

Kate Moss is one of the most successful models in the world. At one point Forbes magazine placed her at number two among top earners in the industry. In 2005 she was forced to issue an apology after photos surfaced which seemed to show her using drugs. By all reports however, it look like she has gotten her life and career back on track. This is particularly important if she is indeed pregnant.

Hollywood star Kevin Costner and his wife Christine Baumgartner have just had another son. According to reports, they named the baby Hayes Logan Costner. He was born on Thursday, February 12, and weighed 8 lbs 15 oz. Costner’s representative Arnold Robinson was quoted as saying, “Both mother and son are doing well.” In a recent radio interview Costner revealed his plans to name the baby Hayes, saying it was a “great Western name.” Costner is known to be a fan of the Western genre.

Costner and Baumgartner already have another son, Cayden Wyatt, who was born in May 2007. The couple has been married since September 2004. Costner was previously married to Cindy Silva, who was his childhood sweetheart, however they divorced in 1994. That union produced three children, Joe, Annie and Lily. Costner is also father to Liam, who was born in 1996 during a short relationship with Bridget Rooney.

As far as Hollywood is concerned, Costner has certainly had his ups and downs. Once a hot property in the industry his box office appeal has waned, but he still has many fans. Early in his career he was known for hits such as The Untouchables, No Way Out and Field of Dreams. He had a blockbuster hit in 1992 when he teamed with singer Whitney Houston for The Bodyguard.

After the film Waterworld misfired, he lost some of his Hollywood luster, but he still kept on working. Some of his more notable recent movies are Mr. Brooks, Dragonfly and The Upside of Anger.

With six children Costner can now be seen as one of the busier celebrity parents, especially since he is still pretty much a working actor. At 54 he is also in the older dads group, something which should make this experience even more interesting for him. He was once quoted as saying about fatherhood, “I can’t say I really see much difference between my son and daughters except that my girls will occasionally make me a sandwich and my son won’t.” How’s that for perspective?

A 13-year old boy cuddled a tiny baby girl in Sussex, England yesterday. No, he is not Big Brother. He’s Daddy.

Alfie Patten is like any 13 year old boy says his own dad, Dennis. He likes his Playstation and his sports teams. Now, Dennis thinks maybe it’s time he taught the boy about the birds and the bees.

Hmm. Well, Dennis, maybe you shoulda’ thought of that a year ago.

OK. I’ll back up a little bit. I mean, Dennis doesn’t live with Alfie’s mom. So, maybe it isn’t his fault. I mean, he gives the boy a few bucks now and then. But he’s got 8 other kids to think about, too. So, it’s all on Mum’s shoulders. I don’t know much about her. Except that now the baby’s born, Alfie spends all his days, and most of his nights, at the girl’s house. She must be OK with that. On the one hand, it’s good he wants to be with the baby. On the other hand, why does he have a baby!?!

Poor kid. Everything they’ve quoted him saying is so sad. He is obviously trying to sound very grown up. But, wow. How could he? He thinks diapers cost “a lot”. And he “thought it would be good to have a baby.” “I will be good, though, and care for it.” How can he care for a baby? He’s still a baby!

His girlfriend, the mature 15-year old Chantelle Steadman, didn’t tell her mother she was pregnant. Mum guessed it after the girl started showing. Chantelle and the baby are now living with Chantelle’s parents. Her mom said it would be hard, since they are on public assistance and now are caring for 7 children. But they are a family and will help her out.

Alfie said they didn’t think about how they could afford a baby. Chantelle said that when she found out she was pregnant, she didn’t think she’d need her parents’ help. The two just knew they weren’t going to have an abortion. Today, Alfie claims they only had sex once and he didn’t know what could happen. Blame it on the teachers then, and Britain’s comprehensive sex-ed?

Uh, has anyone talked to them about adoption? I guess not. I mean, if you don’t tell your kids that having sex leads to babies, why tell them that someone else can raise the baby?

I am glad that this boy is so determined (as much as a 13 year old can be) to be a good dad. And the proud new mama is taking a parenting class at church.  But I’m afraid that 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne is the one who will suffer here. How can they possibly take care of a baby? I can barely take care of both my kids and myself some days.

I showed this story to my 12 year old son and asked him, “Ready for the big time?” He didn’t even know how to respond (which is a good response, I think). He was horrified. He has a baby sister and knows what it’s like. He gets a little nervous when I say I’m going to the mailbox and “can he keep an eye on her?”.

He is the one who noticed a secondary point in The Sun story. Britain’s youngest dad was 12. I just don’t have anything good to say about that.

Fans and non-fans of golf are used to hearing about another victory for superstar golfer Tiger Woods around this time of year. However, according to reports Woods is celebrating the birth of his first son.

Woods revealed the happy news on his website on Monday. His wife Elin delivered a baby boy they named Charlie Axel Woods. Their daughter Sam Alexis was born in June 2007. “Elin and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Charlie Axel Woods, who was born on Sunday February 8, 2009,” he said in his release. “Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Sam is very excited to be a big sister and we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.”

Most people probably know that Tiger Woods was the only child Earl and Tida Woods had. He did however have two half brothers. According to reports, after he got married, he expressed the desire to have more than one child.

The couple became engaged in November 2003. They were introduced by Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik. Their wedding took place at Sandy Lane resort in Barbados, in October 2004.

He has been out of competition lately due to knee surgery, but something tells me golf is the furthest thing from his mind right now. The Buick Invitational which took place on Sunday February 8 was the sixth occasion on which Woods could not defend his title after the operation on his knee. While his mind is no doubt occupied right now with his growing family, I’m sure no one will bet against him being a dominant force on the course when he returns.

His achievements in the sport are almost too numerous to mention. He started to play golf at age two, and at three years old he shot a 48 over nine holes in California at the Navy Golf Club. He took the Junior World Championships title six times, with four of those being consecutive wins.

Woods went pro in 1996 and after tying for 60^th in his first outing, he won the next two events. So far he has won fourteen major golf championships, which places him third on the all time list.

For all his achievements on the golf course, he must be thinking right now about simply being a great dad. Based on what we know of his own father’s influence in his life, he has a good example to follow.

Congratulations to Tiger Woods and his wife Elin on the birth of their second child. Right now the world waits to see if they will be future golf prodigies.
