My little Joaquin was born 10/25. I wondered about the "smile" he gave at 5 weeks, thinking it could be gas or the beginning of an actual smile. But two weeks later when I got home from my first day back at work, I walked in to the living room to find my husband holding my wide awake, bright-eyed little boy. When I bent down to kiss Joaquin hello, there was no mistaking that wide, toothless grin for anything else.

There's nothing else like it in the world, and the adventure is just beginning.

My Ashlynn Bear was born Oct 29. So I was right it is close. I think that there is something about the sleep deprivation or maybe it is the hormones though that makes it all so hazy. I don't think I have a really CLEAR memory until she was like 3 months old. LOL I love reading your little updates though because the help me to focus in on some of my own memories. Christmas coming.... Oh what fun!!!

That's cute, Dawn.

Cadence is giving me the gas grins right now and from the looks of it, the first real smile will be adorable.

I can't remember Piper's first smile exactly, either, but she was such a happy baby anyway.

God I love hearing stories about your little one. She must have been born pretty close to the time my daughter was last year. Oddly enough my little one is Ashlynn. I also can't remember the first smile. But so many of them after that have made huge impact. The milk drunk nursing smile is one for the record books though isn't it. I swear she would pop off the breast sometimes looking more like a drunken sailor than a baby. She would crack me up. She still does every now and then. Popping off with milk streaming out of her mouth flopping over on her back with a look of satisfaction that I have little to compare it to. That look on her face makes it all worth while.
