Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman welcomed their son Max Liron Bratman on Saturday at 10:05 p.m. Their new bundle of joy weighed in at 6 lbs., 2 oz. and measured 20.5 inches. This is the first child for the couple. Baby Max was born hours after Nicole Richie and Joel Madden welcomed their new daughter at the same hospital in Los Angeles.In a message posted on her official Web site on Sunday, Aguilera said, “Today is a very joyful and special day for Jordan and I as we welcome our first son into this world.” The singer also included a special video to thank her fans for their support ,which included snippets of their wedding from their personal wedding video.

Both mom and her new baby boy are reportedly doing well.

For weeks I had planned on bringing my 6 month old daughter to a Mom and Baby Yoga class, but everything from sickness to the holidays kept getting in the way. So finally, this week, everything seemed to align and I made a date with my daughter for our first class. But my quest to find my inner Zen didn’t start out as smoothly as I had hoped.

I had the day planned out perfectly. We would get up around 7am and do our morning routine of eating, changing, getting washed up and playing with her toys until we left at 9:30, giving us plenty of time to arrive early and have a relaxing hour together.

I knew the plan was too good to be true.

So in reality, she woke up at 5am, we spent three hours awake before we both crashed back to sleep at 8am. We wake up at 9am and spend the next 30 minutes doing what would normally take us an hour. I race around to get her ready to go and after two outfit changes, we bolt out of the door at 9:40am. We arrive late and end up in the back of the room. I am feeling disheveled and sweaty before we even get into our first position. What was to be an enjoyable bonding experience was anything but. I can’t hold my positions, my hair is falling out of my clip into my eyes, I can’t follow half of the instructors directions and I don’t know the words to any of the chants or songs we sing to the babies, it’s a disaster.

As I am about to give up all hope, I happen to look down and see my daughter on the mat having the time of her life. She is laughing, pulling off her socks and then, she rolls over. For the first time! Tears well up in my eyes as my little girl grows up right before me. She is smiling and my heart is swelling. And it brought me back down to earth. It reminded me that every moment with her is a blessing. While my intentions are good, plans will not always fall into place and I need to learn how to roll with that or I will miss out on some pretty spectacular memories. Life with a baby is unpredictable, but that’s the pure joy of it. My daughter never ceases to amaze me and for that I am grateful. I will still continue to plan out events with the hopes of creating something special, but I will remember keep my eyes open for the little surprises that make being a mom so extraordinary.

After all, for a day with such a bumpy start, I could not have planned a better ending.

E! Entertainment reports Singer/Songwriter Christina Aguilera and her husband Jordan Bratman welcomed their first child on Friday, although no official announcement has been released yet. The couple reportedly announced the birth in a quick text message to family and friends around 4pm: ?Baby has arrived. Mom and dad are doing well!? The gender of the baby and the name has not been released. Aguilera, 27, officially announced her pregnancy in November to Glamour magazine. Since then she has kept hush about the due date and gender of the child. Aguilera, 27, and Bratman, 30, were married in November 2005 after three years of dating.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are the proud parents of a baby girl. Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center weighing 6 lbs. 7 oz. A spokesperson for the couple told reporters the new parents and their healthy baby girl have already left the hospital. This is the first child for Richie, 26, and Madden, 28, who have been dating for a little over a year. The couple say they eventually plan on getting married but have not yet set a date.

While Richie received a great deal of negative attention for her drastic weight loss over the last couple of years she said her pregnancy, while unexpected, was a “blessing in disguise ” and she has been taking good care of herself and doing what was necessary for the health of her child.

In honor of their firstborn, Richie and Madden created the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation to help the less fortunate. The new parents also hosted a holiday party last month at Paramount Studios, treating nearly 200 disadvantaged kids and their parents to Christmas presents. Earlier in the month, they held a baby shower at which they passed out gifts to 100 new and expectant moms in need.

Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith and husband Roger Fishman welcomed their first child, Jacob ‘Jake’ Emerson, on Friday. Thorne-Smith gave birth at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where Nicole Richie and Christina Aguilera were also reportedly in labor. Sources say Thorne-Smith was almost two weeks overdue but refused to be induced and went into labor on her own last evening.

Thorne-Smith, 40, and Fishman, 47, were married on New Year?s Day 2007. The two met on an airplane in 2004. The actress is known for her current role on ‘According to Jim’ as well as her previous roles on ‘Melrose Place’ and ‘Ally McBeal’. Fishman owns a media company. Both mom and baby are reportedly doing well.

Celebrity News sources US Weekly and Access Hollywood are both reporting that Nicole Richie is in labor at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Richie?s boyfriend and father of her baby, Joel Madden, and his brother Benji were spotted walking through the delivery area Friday afternoon. Sources say Richie entered the hospital through a secret entrance late Thursday evening. Later in the day, Richie?s mom Brenda was also seen with two others being escorted by security to Richie?s room.

The Simple Life star and Madden, member of the band Good Charlotte, first confirmed the pregnancy during an interview with Diane Sawyer last summer after weeks of speculation.

To add even more excitement, sources are saying Christina Aguilera is at the same hospital giving birth via planned cesarean-section. The singer is expecting her first child with her husband music executive Jordan Bratman.

Other Celebrities expecting in 2008 include Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Jaime-Lynn Spears.

British actress Samantha Morton and her fianc? Harry Holm are the proud parents of a baby girl born in London on January 4th. The couple has not decided on a name but their publicist says both mom and baby are doing well. This is the second child for Morton who has a 7 year old daughter Esme from her previous relationship with actor Charlie Creed-Miles.Morton, 30, met Holm, 27, when he directed her in a video for the band The Victims. Holm proposed to Morton about a year later on her 29th birthday in Paris in May 2006, but their busy careers have kept them from tying the knot. Morton, a two-time Oscar nominee for ?Sweet and Lowdown? and ?In America?, scored a supporting actress Golden Globe nomination last month for her role in the HBO film ?Longford?, based on British politico Lord Longford. Morton can next be seen in the film ?The Daisy Chain? and in Charlie Kaufman?s new film ?Synecdoche, New York? opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman and Michelle Williams.

She liked the idea of a Taser gun, which would help her stop an attacker and escape without getting physical. The Taser C2, the newest consumer Taser that is similar to the device police officers use, contains a cartridge with two small probes that can reach an attacker up to 15 feet away. It releases up to 50,000 volts in their body for a maximum of 30 seconds which renders them motionless and gives the owner ample time to escape.

Knowing this would be an interest to women like herself and those looking for a way to protect their families, she created the ?Taser Party?. Much like Tupperware parties in the past, it?s a chance to display, demonstrate and sell the product. Her parties allow women to become more informed about the Taser and give them an opportunity to shoot the device for the first time at a cardboard cutout. She says the Taser appeals to women for its ease of use, small size, and variety of colors, which includes pink.

And while Shafman has been successful with her Taser parties, selling 30 devices since October 2007, there are some who are concerned. Amnesty International is one group that disapproves the further spread of stun guns to the public, saying the weapons are already used in excess by the police and are likely to be abused by the public as well.

For those parents frustrated by the constant recall on children?s toys, there is finally some good news.The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said it will add staff at the nation?s busiest ports and work more closely with U.S. Customs to stop suspect imports and potentially dangerous toys off the market. There are also plans to increase port inspection of toys, fireworks, electronics and other potentially high-risk toys.

While the acting commission chief Nancy Nord defends the agency?s safety record, she said she’s ready to ?embrace major change?. She added this year’s massive toy recalls has more to do with “more effective enforcement rather than a deluge of unsafe toys?. Congress has increased the CPSC budget by $20 million to cover the expense of added inspectors at ports.

Former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan and her husband are expecting their third child. The 1994 silver medalist and her husband Jerry Solomon, President and CEO of StarGames, a sports marketing and entertainment company, say they are thrilled with the addition to their family. The couple has two sons Matthew, 11 and Brian, 2.

Kerrigan, 38, and Solomon, 53, say while Kerrigan is feeling great, they have kept this pregnancy a secret longer than usual due to the difficutly Kerrigan had with her second pregnancy, suffering six miscarriages over eight years while trying to conceive.

The two say everyone is excited with the news, except their 2-year old son Brian who still isn?t sure how he feels about having another sibling and changes his mind from day to day about the idea of a new baby in the house.

The couple hasn?t decided if they want to know the sex of the baby and have not announced a due date.

Americans are choosing to make better food choices rather than diet in their quest for healthier living. In a recent survey of 26 thousand American adults, 29 percent of women and 19 percent of men are dieting. This number is down from 10 years ago when 35 percent of women and 23 percent of men were on a diet. According to the survey, which was conducted by the New York based-NPD Group, Inc., improving overall health was the prime motivation for 68 percent of those on a diet. The survey revealed the most popular diet was one that dieters made up themselves either by reading nutritional labels on packaged foods, following general weight loss information, using portion control, severely cutting calories or eliminating a food group such as carbohydrates. The NPD Group said the problem with diets is most people wind up feeling deprived, are disappointed with the results or realize dieting is not a long term solution to healthy living. Since 2001, one aspect that has remained consistent in the survey is the number of Americans who want to lose weight- a whopping 60 percent. However, many are now understand that the numbers on the scale are not the only factor in good health. This year, eight out of 10 dieters surveyed said their goal was both to lose weight and improve their health.
