The most heart-friendly cities in the US

The American Heart Association, in cooperation with Sperling’s BestPlaces, conducted a study to determine which cities in the US are the most and least heart-friendly for women. The study considered several risk factors for cardiovascular disease including obesity, smoking rates and general health statistics.

And the winner is…

Minneapolis-St. Paul

Among mega cities with a population equal or greater than 1.5 million, St. Paul has “the lowest cardiac mortality and hypertension and highest exercise rates in the country.”

St Paul is follwed by Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV and San Francisco-San Jose-Oakland, CA.

At the other end if the scale, Nashville-Davidson–Murfreesboro, TN, sadly, is deemed to be the least heart-friendly city.

For smaller cities, Salt Lake City (UT) and Boulder (CO) top the list.
