With our twins, we practically stopped dining out (unless you count fast food and self-service restaurants as dining out) until they were big enough to behave at the table. On special occasions, we got grandma over or had a babysitter. Our main criteria for a place to go to was a)non-smoking section b)changing table in the bathroom c)play corner. The culinary part was secondary. But take heart. It gets better as they grow older. As long as your kid is a good eater, he or she will also get to enjoy dining. My 2 boys are almost 5 and can now sit for a 3-course meal as long as they are hungry and not so tired.
