The supermarket chain Whole Foods Market is going green. It is going to stop giving out disposal plastic bags to customers and provide reusable bags instead. This is good news considering the millions of plastic shopping bags polluting the environment each year (See Dan`s post!).
Whole Foods had successful test runs in some of their branches in San Francisco, Toronto, and Austin. In total, it has 270 stores in the US, Canada, and the UK. Its target date to be completely plastic bag-free is April 22, 2008 – EARTH DAY!
