books4baby.jpgReading aloud to your baby is the one of the most important steps you can take to promote academic success in her ability to read. Not only does reading help your baby to learn her spoken language, it is her gateway to discovering the world around her. The time to start reading to your baby is when she is an infant. Even though she may not be able to engage actively in story time, she is, nevertheless, absorbing important information in the way of new sounds and words. Additionally, reading together helps to establish a strong parent-child bond.

Consider adding the following books to your baby?s collection:

  1. Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown
  2. Blue Hat, Green Hat, by Sandra Boyton
  3. Maybe, My Baby, by Irene O?Book
  4. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle
  5. We?re Going On A Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury
  6. Peek-A-Boo!, by Janet and Allan Ahlberg
  7. Jamberry, by Bruce Degen
  8. Where?s Spot?, by Eric Hill
  9. The Wheels on the Bus, by Raffi
  10. How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?, by Jane Yolen
