Being a parent is frustrating. There is so much to do and so many children to prevent you from doing it. But don’t get discouraged or upset. Take a deep breath and realize your little ones just need you to help them feel confident about their decisions and actions.
Talk with your children and help them to feel important. Every parent has to say no, but encourage them in positive ways.
Make getting dressed for school a game: “How fast can you get your socks on?” instead of “Put your socks on now!”
Remember, chores can be made into a team builder: “If you pick up a Lego, I will pick up a Lego.”
Look at homework as an opportunity to spend quality time together: “Let’s go do your homework.” not “Go and do your homework!”
Find different ways to tell them good job: “Clever”, “You make me proud”, “That’s the best ever”, “Sensational”, “Keep on trying”, “Superb”, etc.
Your child is a little person that needs your support in a big person world. Encouraging them in positive ways will guide them into being a fantastic big person, just like their mom and dad.
