We have done this same thing with our son and flying back to see family. One thing we did was get a few cheap, small toys that were something new to provide entertainment on the plane(make sure they have volume control if they have sound!). The Baby Bjorn idea will work great - this is what we did and our son was completely content being toted around in the airport by my husband. This was much easier than lugging a stroller! When he got older we just red-tagged an umbrella stroller and that worked fine for us! Good luck traveling! Sounds like a great plan!
